PostPs Plus subscription help needed
by Rapidly-Greying » Tue May 17, 2022 3:26 pm

Hi guys, my subscription runs out in a few days. I've been trying to redeem the code I bought from shopto but I keep getting the error code WS-45487-8. I'm worried I'm going to lose all my games if I can't resolve the problem. I've tried a search on Google but not having much luck.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You really need to contact the place you bought it from. It seems to be one of those things that happens from time to time when buying 3rd party keys.

And don't worry, all your saves etc will still be there when you resume your sub (assuming it lapses in the mean time). I think you get 6 months grace, but my saves were still there after I resubbed after a 2 year hiatus. Likewise you will be able to access all your PS+ games again.

I think Sony have suspended redeeming subs via cards if your current sub is still active, or at least something like that was going on with trying to stack PS Now subs so that people don't take advantage to get a cheap upgrade to the new PS+ service that is coming.

This isn't particularly helpful I realise, but maybe it will work once your current sub expires?

Yeah I'm pretty sure you just have to wait for your current subscription to lapse.

Yeah Sony confirmed they had blocked redeeming codes on active subscriptions a little while back as people were stacking cheaper subs to get the top tier of the new model for current prices.

You won't lose the games you've redeemed through PS Plus, just the ability to play them until you re-subscribe.

Sony stopped you redeeming prepaid cards to extend your membership ahead of new PS+ as others have said - your code should work after membership lapses with no ill effects though

As we prepare to launch the new PlayStation Plus membership service, we are doing some work behind the scenes to make the transition as smooth as possible for all of our existing members. As part of this work, we’ve temporarily disabled stacking memberships for existing customers until after the launch. Rest assured that your voucher code is still valid, and you will be able to redeem your code either when your existing membership expires and deactivates, or after the new PlayStation Plus service launches in your area, whichever happens first.

This happened to me. Bought a code from ShopTo the day that Sony decided it would be better business on their part to suspend the cards until June. Raised a ticket with ShopTo who closed it without responding.

Then raised a PayPal claim, who ruled in ShopTo’s favour as they told them I’d received the item. That I can’t redeem the item, which breaches the t&cs of the item seems beyond ShopTo and PayPal’s comprehension. But not my credit card company or Visa, who have issued a chargeback.

So if you can buy a code anywhere at the moment, don’t - you won’t be able to redeem it & will have to jump through hoops to get your money back.

I tried to redeem the code the day after my subscription ran out but got the same message so I just forked out for 3 months from Sony. That's £6.50, wasted.
