Whoever was supposed to have tested this is having a really bad day.

I'd hate to be them, etc.

Checked with a few mates and their 80gbs are fine. So looks like it must be 60,40 and early 80gbs that are strawberry floated. At least mine is fine 8-)

Quoted from Gaf -

Interesting facts:

1. Error 8001050f is displayed when trying to sign into PSN
2. The error is displayed quickly, as if it doesn't even try to connect
3. Affected downloadable titles show 8001050f on launch without even trying to connect to PSN
4. Your clock gets reset
5. The problem started at midnight
6. Dynamic themes show up as "corrupted"

This seems to sum up everything thats gone tits up quite nicely.

the above has happened to me @ 9:00am. date/time is 31/12 11:22PM. the clock moves forward, but if i turn the system off/on it resets to 11:22PM.

tried Home and it is installing an update V01.32. installed, but wont connect with error 8001050f.

downloaded the free Blue Toad Murder Files Episode 3 last night, tried it just now and it installed. on trying the game the screen goes black and thats as far as it gets.

Browser is working.

trying LBP, downloading latest update. can only play story mode with no access to DLC.

This generation is strawberry floating terrible for hardware, but the games are so so so good. Rough with the smooth.

Surely if this is based on the internal clock and that runs on battery then your PS3 has already decided whether or not it's borked?

Yep. As soon as you turn it on it will be screwed, unless there is some sort of safe mode you can start it in and then load a fix from a USB stick

I'm just hoping all is well tomorrow. Millions of returns would take a while to sort.

On the other hand, they can say their sales have shot up and now is on par with Xbox360 total sales :fp:
