My PS4 is constantly trying to eject discs from an empty drive and won't take new discs. Anyone had this fault? Any ideas?

A few people have had the issue on here. Most ended up getting a replacement console from the retailer.

There's a couple of reasons why it happens (maybe more than two, but these seem to be the most common) and solutions  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqTokStMbNo (easy fix) and http://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/comments/1x ... oblem_fix/ (also easy but you need to remove cover)

Switch it off from the mains and unplug it for 5 minutes, solved that problem for me and hasn't happened since.

Thank you so much for the advice. Tried kjgarly's solution and the first one above but no luck. Amazon have kindly offered to give me a full refund on return. I'll give sony a call before I open it up and try the second solution above. Might just send it back and get another one from Game. At least I will have another 12 month warranty on that one.

Shame as I am really enjoying my ps4 but this has to be the quickest hardware fail in nearly 30 years of gaming.

Just be aware if you go to Sony that their customer service isn't great. Chances are good that you will end up getting PS4 back sooner if you go through Amazon. Ditto compared to GAME if you choose to buy from them (yeah, I cannot stand them so apologies if I sound biased against them!) next time. If you are worried about 12 month warranty then get a refund and buy again from Amazon. That way youget their stellar customer care and a new warranty. God luck getting it sorted whatever you choose.

It's absolutely strawberry floating ludicrous that most consoles only have a 1 year warranty.

I mean, handhelds I can understand, wear and tear etc. But in what way could the customer be at fault for a console failing? It just sits there.

Such a rip off.

They don't have a 1 year warranty. Don't believe shops/manufacturers on this. The Sale of Goods Act states that electronic items have to be fit for purpose, and for electronic items you have around 6 years.

Right, but what exactly can you do if they just say 'nope, we're not replacing it'

The next best steps are to use the Small Claims Mediation Service and then, if necessary, make a claim in the Small Claims Court.

After waiting on the phone for 15 mins for a sony rep I decided to simply return it to amazon. They are picking it up tomorrow and should be refunded at the start of next week. I ordered a new ps4 and that should be here tomorrow, too. Great service. Unfortunately, they don't do the '4 Gamers' pack that I ordered in November anymore, so I will have to order camera, controller and kill zone separately which comes to a tiny bit more. Never mind.

Thanks again for your help.

No problem.

Pre-owned copy of KZ SF can be had for £12 on CEX, btw.

Well, they'd be breaking the law and you just need to quote the sale of goods act at them.

If that happens, stick up for yourself and don't let them get away with it. The link below has a pretty good template letter to use if they really wont help.

Has anyone here increased the size of their PS4's storage? I have 60GB remaining, and we haven't hit the silly season yet. That remaining space could be taken up by just one title.

I'm looking at 2TB drives on Amazon, and they're around the £80+ mark but I don't know which is best. Not fussed about SSD or hybrid. I just want more space.

Actually looking further, there's a Samsung one described as PS4 compatible on Amazon for £89.99. Do only certain ones work/fit?

I just had an email from Sony saying my First Light pre-order has been cancelled due to a technical issue. strawberry float sakes, eh?

Also it says I haven't been charged, but I thought with paying with PayPal I'd have paid up front.
