Before Covid 19 I would have said power was more important. By the end of this year it's going to be selling to a very price conscious customer. In an ideal world you'd want the most powerful machine and the cheapest, but that's going to require a massive hit. It's what Microsoft did with the original Xbox though. £100 just came off in a matter of weeks, and it was already operating at a huge loss at £300.
PlayStation fans will continue to buy into the PlayStation brand, likewise for Xbox fans.
I don't think you'll get the number jumping ship to the Sony camp like we saw during the Xbox One pre-launch period following on from the farcical arrogance Microsoft showed about not being able to share games, DRM & that stupid f-ing Kinect POS camera that added £100 to the price.
Microsoft might pinch few back who are on the fence if they can make a statement about the Xbox being the most powerful. Having the most power seems to matter apparently and is a big draw regardless of what everyone thinks.
Being backwards compatible means that those who just buy one console will pretty much keep to the ecosystem they are already in.
