I didn’t think I’d ever say this about a PlayStation but I’m
not interested yet.

Very boring and the series x is looking quite attractive now, especially as multiplatform games are guaranteed to run better on it. I am also worried about the PS5 overheating - MS have already built a console that is quiet and won't overheat. Where do I sign up?

It will be down to games which I am sure playstation would bring. Im not overly bothered about graphics, so long as they are better than the PS4 which it obviosuly will be. I want good games and I am sure i'll get that with this.

The backwards compatability is a total let down though

PLAY | Persona 3 Reloaded [3h]
WATCH | Ted Lasso S3, HiJack S1, Red Dwarf S4, Dexter S2
RACE | Chew Valley 10k (June), GNR (Sept), Cardiff Half (Oct)

The Backwards Compatibility (or lack thereof) is disappointing. While Microsoft is going to actually enhance many of your current catalogue of games, and probably have 99% of Xbox One games BC on day 1 (because there's always at least 1 game that doesn't work properly), Sony is merely going to get PS4 games running. And they've only managed to test around 100 of them at the moment? Here's hoping there's no unforeseen issues between now and launch.

There's a number of games coming out this year (such as Resident Evil 3, Final Fantasy VII, Last of Us II) that I hope would see automatic patches for PS5. If they're running in some sort of legacy mode, then that's surely out unless Sony allow you to redownload a separate PS5 version. Or, you know, BUY THEM AGAIN. :dread:

It is very disappointing. I still want the PS5 exclusives, but the multiplatform games will look like crap when compared to the series x. It really is a dilemma because I don't want 2 main consoles, but this pathetic presentation really highlights how much work MS have put into their new console.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. :slol:

It's just a repeat of the PS4 Pro vs. Xbox One X, but just right out of the gate.

(or Xbox 360 vs. PS3 prior to that)

What a clusterfuck. It's not Mark Cerny's fault it's Jim Ryan's. Specs if one thing which is determined by the price Sony is looking to sell the console to the public for. But a standard backwards compatibility solution is tone deaf but unsurprising because because Ryan said people didn't want backwards compatibility and also, Cerny's solution sounds like the same one he offered for PS4 to PS4 Pro compatibility, which is to just match the clock speed.

I'm happy to play all consoles but after this PR shambles I think I will join Photek and become an Xbot. State of Decay 3 for the win.

This.

No one will care about this video or what the actual console looks like when it has amazing exclusives.

The backwards compatability is disappointing, they need it to have all PS4 games (at least 99%) at the very minimum before it becomes too damaging IMO. PS1/PS2/PS3 needs to be addressed or they can add to it throughout the consoles lifespan like Xbox did with the Xbox One this gen. You can't expect them to have every game from earlier generations when Xbox hasn't even got that.

MS are definitely ahead it terms of hardware, hype and other features, no doubt. Impressive stuff from them, massive kudos for them turning it round.

Competition is good :D

Audio design and the fast SSD is what has me most interested. This might be the first time I end up buying both consoles but considering MS already said their main hitters won't be coming sometime down the line I think I can wait.

Ultimately it will make strawberry float all difference, but this was a bit of a mess up on Sony's part. Nobody was desperate for this kind of information. The majority of devs will already know everything they need to know.

Either do a proper reveal from a consumer perspective or do nothing.

Nothing at all. Look for the tech specs on Eurogamer. Much quicker and simpler to understand.

I have a feeling a few people are initially going to misinterpret his remarks about PS4 BC to mean that only some games will work at launch, whereas what he meant is that they've only tested the most popular 100 titles (of which most currently work). Repeat that across the board though and there's a chance BC is going to be a tad broken at launch. The implementation of BC is clearly inferior to that of Microsoft, that's for sure.

On the positives, the IO performance is vastly superior to Xbox, and they've clearly thrown an awful lot into audio development.

To add to the competition you’d have thought/hope that Microsoft have been working hard at their first party games for the next gen, their first party offerings really weren't great compared to the PS4’s. I want both of them to have great first party games, or at least enough that you don’t feel like you’re missing out on too much if you can only get one of them.

Games are going to be the deciding factor for me, currently the Xbox definitely feels like the better of the two but until we’ve seen games for both of them who can say which will have the better launch?
