In terms of physical size I think that the PS5 and XSX may be very similar as the XSX benefits from a lower surface-to-volume ratio due to shape, which might make it appear smaller than it actually is in terms of space.

Generally I prefer the XSX design as it seems a lot less conventional and the cooling solution looks superior whereas for all it's curved panels the PS5 is still basically a rectangular box.

Yeah, this was news to me too and then I saw the trailer and it mentions it at the end Says a lot about where everyone's attention wasn't.

I'll be surprised if it's even close to a fully fledged game and not just some quick thing to show off the new pad's capabilities.

Seemed to backfire quite a bit for Rise of the Tomb Raider. By the time it reached PS4 a lot of people weren’t interested, unfortunately.

Maybe their thinking is, that, a build up of exclusives will be what's needed to get players, other than those buying the console on day one, to buy their console. Or something.

Seemed to backfire quite a bit for Rise of the Tomb Raider. By the time it reached PS4 a lot of people weren’t interested, unfortunately.

I didn’t know Rise of the Tomb Raider was a timed exclusive, only played the first one and while it was good was never really fussed about playing any of the others. Obviously not stopped Square Enix going for another timed exclusive in Project Athia then, although the marketing on that one is still really bad from the short trailer, “designed exclusively for PS5” but then apparently its just a timed exclusive?

Yeah I get that a console needs to have exclusive titles to shift units but thats what first party studios are for, timed exclusives just seem odd to me, why limit your potential sales by staggering the release? Obviously Sony will be chucking a chunk of money their way to soften the blow but still, you’d have thought the bigger developers would want sales figures over a bit of cash thrown their way. The smaller developers I can understand, they might not have the funding so having a bit of money given to them for 6 months exclusivity so the game can be made how they want isn’t such a huge deal.

And this is what happens when those games are still in development upon the console's release. And you have to assume that the money Sony do give 'em makes financial sense to all concerned to do business. I wish it wasn't the case, though. Really. Would much rather have exclusives at launch, because as it stands, the fuss they made about the games pushing the PS5 rings hollow. (Not talking about Ratchet, HFW, DS, et al.)

Watching giant bombs video commentary of the event Jeff immediately pointed out that they’ve made the console look like a V to represent 5. I don’t think anyone else has even considered that but well spotted.

I can't see the PS5 being over £500 even for the disk unit.
