Another really cool game I've just started playing that almost no-one will show any interest in. Oh well.

It's a really cool game, though. It nails the aesthetic, the controls are responsive, and the movement abilities are a ton of fun. And it's only £5, so why not?
No trailer, but this short video from the dev shows you everything you need to know:

Noclip has a longer video on it on their secondary channel if you need more convincing:

I would buy a game for a single satisfying traversal move and some of that wall-pole action has me interested! Thanks for heads up (ditto for that Megaman hookshot game)

Something linked me to this game recently and I saw the positive Steam reviews but assumed it was some kind of meme. I'll check it out based on your recommendation.

Is it just me that really disliked how most N64 games had that fog effect to hide the terrible draw distance, also the slightly echo-y, dreamlike sound.

I just thought it was a bit naff aesthetically, even at the time.

Batshit. Crazy. Next you'll be saying you didn't like the PS1's texture warping, or that the Megadrive had sound that was too crunchy and dirty.

Just finished this. Steam says 6.2 hours. ~20 minutes of that was me thinking I had messed up and closing the game to make sure it didn't save in that messed up state (in reality it was fine, but the game never explicitly tells you (unless you look for it in an item description) that if you are separated from your sword (and it's in a place you can't get to) you can recall it at a save point. That and one time the game froze up and wouldn't accept any inputs.
All in all a really good game. Suffers a bit from not having a map, but it's also a small enough that it doesn't matter that much. I did get stuck for probably an hour searching for the last two things I needed to finish the game, but it would have been less if I'd known that (location and powerup spoiler):
On top of the tower where you get the wallrun ability there are hints for where all the golden keys are.
The combat is functional at best. I do wish it wasn't in the game, but it's mostly not a hindrance to enjoying the game. Mostly.

I guess now that I've scratched the indie itch it might be time for Baldur's Gate 3.

Texture warping didn't bother me and I loved the quirks of the sound on the Megadrive.

Searched for this on the off-chance it had a thread. And here we are.

Started this tonight. I am incredibly bad at action games and I haven't got fully got the hang of the air kick yet but I'm enjoying it. Trying to figure everything out. It is pretty stingy with save points though - at the very least it should be saving after you pick up a new ability. I shouldn't need to backtrack to find a save point in a platforming game.

The lack of save points was (for me at least) mostly an issue at the start of the game. It gets to be much less of a problem later on. Other things cause problems later, mostly the lack of a map, but the game is both cheap and short enough that it should be easy to forgive.

I did it :toot:

I wish there was a NG+ where you had all the abilities from the start. I loved chaining moves together once I'd found everything.

The only area I had real problems with was the Underbelly. I spent hours looking for the move that lets you bounce off the black orbs and had to look it up in the end. That area in particular is too dark as well. I had to turn the brightness all the way up on my Deck and was still having problems making things out.

Also I don't think it needs combat at all. It was either pointlessly easy or an annoyance that got in the way of the platforming.

But as a 3D platformer, it's great. £5 is an absolute steal.

It's also been updated with a map, time trials, and a bunch of fixes and tweaks.

Two and a half hours in and this is terrific. Lovely art style and music but the movement is absolutely spot on. Once you unlock a few new abilities it all starts to click and it just feels great to control. Just unlocked a sort of wall running ability and I feel like it's changed my entire approach to traversal.

Great stuff!

Ooh cool to see there's a thread for this :) I recently went through this thanks to the Humble Bundle, had a splend time!

Though it is quite easy to get lost for long periods of time, admittedly. It's also not a game that'd be easy to come back to after a long break, so I'd recommend focusing on it over a few days. Regardless, the amazing movement + how good it feels to finally make progress make it sing :toot:

I was surprised how much I liked the aesthetic too! I generally prefer low res textures unfiltered (ala PS1/Saturn), but for whatever reason they worked here for me.

I've been waiting so long for the N64-aesthetic era. It's finally here. Shame about the dumbass name tho

Meh to be honest. Beat it first try but felt like it wasn't really necessary. Didn't add anything particularly exciting. I would've been happy to just walk through the door and get the ending scene but it didn't damage the experience either.
