This beautiful book is a celebration of some of gaming’s most charming and attractive art and visual design. “20 Double Fine Years” is an insight into how creative people can come together to craft experiences that are touching, hilarious and unlike anything you’ve enjoyed before. With over 280 pages of commentary, concept art and key visuals from Double Fine’s digital and physical art archive, the book features interviews with Tim Schafer, founder of Double Fine; Double Fine staffers, present and past; and many of the studio’s long term collaborators.

In Tim’s own words: “Recently, I was looking back on the amazing 20 years we’ve had as a game company, and… I totally drew a blank. Seriously, my memory just isn’t what it used to be. So I summoned my court scribes and said, ‘Pen me a tome, worthy of the ages, so that I shall remember every amazing detail of this crazy ride we’ve been on, and so that nobody, not even I, forgets this amazing story.’ And so they did. Every up, every down, every crazy sideways shimmy we’ve ever done is in this illustrated manuscript for all to remember. Heroic ballad? Cautionary tale? You be the judge!”

“20 Double Fine Years” will be available early in 2021 and both the Standard Edition for $50 USD and the Legend Edition (limited availability during pre-order period only) for $65 USD featuring a luxury fabric cover and gold foiling on a debossed Double Fine logo are available for pre-order now. Pre-orders in the US and the UK will have free shipping, while other regions will still benefit from reduced shipping costs.

2020 was a dang strange time but Psychonauts 2 is doing well and will release next year. You can play the whole thing from start to finish! It's happening In the video below, Tim looks back at 2020 and outlines the work that’s ahead.

Really looking good, always wanted to play the first one. Remember watching the trailer when I was a kid and was really impressed by it.

I remember enjoying the original Psychonauts, but for some reason I gave up on it when I got to a certain point. Tempted to go back to it and try and see it through this time.

Never liked the ugly characters, but the sequel could be interesting.

I love the character design personally, very unique and visually interesting. Looks like a child's drawing come to life.

It looks so clean.

I really have to get around to playing the first game. I have been meaning to for years now, but it never quite makes it to the top of my list.

I replayed Psychonauts the year before last because I thought this would be out soon. :lol:

I have heard a rumour that this might be a surprise release by MS their conference next month. Hope this is true.

I've not really paid much attention to this until now, but it looked really, really good. I enjoyed the original game, but went back to a couple of years ago, and honestly found it quite hard to get into. There's something so fresh looking about the gameplay in this sequel though.

Will definitely play this, but didn’t look next gen at all, which is a shame.

That's cos it's not next gen. It's main platforms are PS4/XB1. That said it's getting a boost on Series consoles only.

I hope the sequel is wildly different in terms of what it tasks you to do - endless collecting of stuff, shonky platforming and poor level design kills the first game stone dead.

Counterpoint- The original game is still excellent and the only actively bad thing is the last level which I completed for the first time yesterday.

I don't know what you think next gen looks like but I've got an ultra-high end PC and Psychonauts 2 looks great to me.
