Developed by the award-winning id Software, Quake® is the ground-breaking, original dark fantasy first-person shooter that inspires today’s retro-style FPS games. Now, experience the authentic, updated, and visually enhanced version of the original.

Experience the Original Game, Enhanced

Only after you have collected the runes will you hold the power to defeat the ancient evil that threatens all of humanity.

Get the Original & New Expansion Packs
Quake also comes with both original expansion packs: “The Scourge of Armagon” and “Dissolution of Eternity,” as well as two expansions developed by the award-winning team at MachineGames: “Dimension of the Past,” and the all-new “Dimension of the Machine.”

In the deepest depths of the labyrinth lies the core of lava and steel known only as The Machine. Quake Remastered rated in Korea; ESRB rates Quake for PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.

Announcement at QuakeCon 2021?

The Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea has rated the unannounced Quake Remastered.

Additionally, the Entertainment Software Rating Board has rated Quake for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.

Here is its description of the title:

"This is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of a soldier that travels through time to stop an evil force from destroying humanity. Players traverse through maze-like medieval enviornments and use shotguns, nail guns, and grenade launchers to kill various enemies (e.g., zombies, demonic forces, scorpions, humans) in frenetic run-and-gun combat. Battles are accompanied by gunfire sounds, screams of pain, and large explosions. Large blood-splatter effects occur frequently, and several attack cause enemies to explode into bloody chunks. Some areas depict mutilated body parts on the ground or falling from ceilings.

Despite the Entertainment Software Rating Board rating not carrying the “Remastered” subtitle, both ratings are likely for the same title.

QuakeCon 2021 will run from today to August 21. The opening event, scheduled for 7:05 p.m. BST today, is a celebration of Quake‘s 25th anniversary.

Additionally, a now-deleted description for August 20’s “Let’s Talk Quake” panel previously read, “Quake is back, in this special stream John Linneman from Digital Foundry talks to Jerk Gustafsson of Machine Games about the title’s iconic legacy and what it meant to both of them. The pair will also discuss the additional content Machine Games have contributed to this revitalized edition.”

Could possibly be a multi-platform remaster along with a new game announced. We shall see.

Holy crap I'm always thinking about how much I love the aesthetic and atmosphere of Quake (though I've only ever played with the moodily silent shareware PC version and not the NIN-sound-tracked version?!) so would love having it to hand on the Switch!

I really hope it's the first one (or the whole series, however unlikely that is). I've got II playable on 360 (bundled with 4), and I'm not fussed about revisiting III. I loved it at the time (on Dreamcast), but MP has moved on too much to go back to such basics. But replaying the first game involves setting up the Saturn, so an HD tidy version would be appreciated.

I still play Quake 1 every now and then on PC, it's solid fun but will never quite have the same place in my heart as the original Doom games do.

I'd be interested in a remaster, but I think I'd want it to be substantially different from the original, not just a HD version

Where the strawberry float are Heretic and Hexen? It's like those games don't exist any more. :x

Pleased that it’s the original game. Delighted it’s in Game Pass. Unannounced, then immediately available without paying. What a service.

It’s there on Xbox, but you have to search for it by name at the moment.

Got a LOT of nostalgia for quake. Back in the old shareware days on pc, this launched with the entire first episode for free on most pc gaming magazines
