Ok, so I wanted to gift Zelda Links Awakening to my son who is part of my Nintendo family group. There is currently a 50% discount for 30 gold points but does anyone know if that discount is locked to only my account? If it is, can I log in on his 2ds and install the game and then log back out?

I think 3DS games are locked to the console they are bought on rather than associated to Nintendo accounts, but I'm not sure.

It looks like the discount is locked to your own account.

Given that the 3DS can only use one account at a time, you can't buy it on your account and let him play the game through his own account.

They are yes and the only way is to transfer the account to another 3DS/2DS which would wipe the one its transferring from.

Yeah, thought that might be the case. Next option then might be to register any existing switch cart games on his switch account do he gets the gold points. Only need 30 so should be 2 or 3.

EDIT: Just bought Starlink physical edition so that might be enough on its own.
