I was attacked by a giant spider just last week. I was walking to my front room and in the hallway a massive spider started running along the floor towards me. I whipped off my slipper and belted it several times and managed to kill it.

I wouldn't have used toilet cleaner though. I would be worried that there would be a slight chance of mutation and the last thing you want is a mutant spider in the bath.
