I just hope we finally see some actual new gen exclusives and not more crossgen stuff.
Let's finally see what the PS5 and XSX can do now that developers have had some time to get used to them.

The game I really would like to see announced is Cities Skylines 2 as I think that could really benefit from being new gen only.

Wondering where Nintendo will host their next Direct, 14th June seems the most likely going by past years. Sony’s SoP doesn’t seem to be the ‘E3 Level’ event I was hoping for but hopefully it should still have a few big announcements from 3rd parties.

Hopefully we’ll get a general Nintendo Direct as well as a Pokémon Presents too, would be odd if E3 passed us by without either of these.

Do you think they'll mention a Switch Pro?
Maybe for next Christmas?

I still think at this point they may as well just have a more expensive/more powerful upgrade and call it Switch 2 rather than just an Switch Pro type situation, Switch would be about 5 and a half years old if a Pro launched this Christmas, I think the OLED was meant to be the Pro but the chip situation made it an upgrade but just not on the power front.

An upgrade will release in March 2023 to coincide with BotW 2 and the Mario movie.

So, will a Silent Hill game be announced during Summer Games Fest?

Great thread, and appreciate the work put in to it. Unfortunately it just highlights how low-key the former E3 window is this year. At the moment MS is the only developer / publisher that are really hinting at a comprehensive showing of things to come.

Edit - maybe not completely true/fair, I think the first day of Summer Game Fest had a few decent things being shown last year?

I really really miss the old school E3.

3 events. And everyone gooseberry fool themselves during each one at least once.

Yep, I (like most here i'm sure) loved proper E3. No matter how much footage you tried to keep up with, you would always somehow miss a big reveal somewhere.

E3 > Christmas. So for me there is no Christmas anymore.

A great guide. I'll be watching a number of these events for sure.

I do hope Nintendo announce their plans soon. That's the one I'm most interested in.

What I used to like about E3 were the photos of the advertising boards going up around LA, and the ones people would take sneakily inside the convention centre before E3 opened. I added to the hype!

Many 3rd parties are not hosting their own events this year so we may see more of these in the State of Play/Xbox showcase/Summer Games Fest streams, stuff from Square and Capcom I imagine.

"nearly 30 minutes" has me very unexcited about the State of Play, there's not much space in that for a load of third party announcements.

It’s not often they announce a State of Play a week in advance though is it? I think this might be a bigger SoP than we previously have got. About 10 minutes on PS VR2, something Final Fantasy and maybe one of the Silent Hill projects would be a good event.

I also think God of War Ragnarok will be present, even if it’s a short trailer and a reveal of a dedicated SoP for it later in June

Yeah, this is what killed my interest in the announcement also. If it had been in the 45min - 1 hour region I would have higher hopes. Plus its getting warmer outside right now, so VR stuff is at it's lowest point on my Interest Cycle.
