I just said it was an overreaction. Which it was. The company didn't even look at appearance when the casted the voice actors. They just picked the people on the best voice samples they got for the roles.

The only other reason I can see for it being that way is that it puts emphasis on the characteristic first instead of the person, in the same way that in academics we call those with disabilities "people with disabilites" rather than "disabled people", or just "disabled".
