Resetera has a censorship problem anyway, but when you're owned by a company things are inevitably going to change, just as they did when we were with Future Publishing.

Someone should be getting some erection points.

Edit - wtf is with the meta game that is the autocorrect on this forum
That being said, it beautifully sums up why i visit here more than Resetera. Plus Resetera is blocked at work. Thats actually a massive part of it.

Resetera is like a busy city where people talk but no-one actually converses. GRcade is more like your local country pub

It seems really bloody stupid to me that the community ended up with a sole owner again, and so quickly, considering everything that happened with the last sole owner of the community over on NeoGAF.

The owner hasn't even been involved in the community for almost 2 years (stopped participating around the time he achieved 100% ownership, funnily enough). Back when it was getting started, I remember the staff were quick to shoot down any suggestions of sharing ownership and forum funding more widely among the community too.

Having people paying monthly subscriptions under the impression they were keeping the lights on, while making around half a million yearly profit seems pretty scummy to me. Clearly he was just in it for the cash grab.

What exactly were there ~$150k annual costs? Hosting was probably a large part for such a busy site, but I guess there would have been payment processing as well for subs? Either way it seems like a lot of money!

Looks like they were employing people:
The people who've been handling paid work, such as the tech team, will be making their own arrangements with MOBA Network to continue doing what they do.

What does the paid subscription to their forum grant you (aside from no adverts, which presumably could have been disabled via adblock)?

Considering the last owner of the community lost control after he got himself cancelled, he probably made the (smart decision) to step back to avoid risking anything that could ruin his cash cow.

It's also worth noting a few notable communities were moving away from ResetEra because of various issues. A load of Nintendo fans migrated to a site called Famiboards. He's probably selling at the optimum time. He honestly couldn't have played this better.

You get a +7 buff against erection attempts by mods and ban periods can be sped up by 34%. Probably worth the fee tbh.

My local pub is called The Beehive and has lots and lots of bees stuck to the wall. Honestly, they went to far with the theme.

In keeping with the forum's collective love of Peep Show, I think a GR country pub would be called The Goose and Rapist
