A few things happened to me and my boyfriend and I'd like to know who's to blame here. Am I a cold person or is my boyfriend overreacting?

It all started yesterday when my boyfriend was having dinner. I didn't eat because I wasn't hungry. I always feed him when we have this particual dish, but now I didn't feed him and he's mad about it. We didn't sleep all night because we discussed this happening.

He also told me that I forgot to prepare two roti's for him, which I did forget. But in the end there was more than enough food.

Then he started to complain about the fact that I didn't turn on the video during our phone conversation we had last night, asking me if I really miss him while he's away.

Am I not being attentive enough or is my boyfriend overreacting? It's tiring!

Bt the way...I'm 34 years old and from Kosovo and he's 37 years from Mauritius, so we both have our temperament.

Yes, physically feeding him. Cutting the food and putting it in his mouth. Handfeeding.

I want to talk about him but he's constantly watching soccer. And tonight he's insisting that I massage his feet. But I'm so sick amd tired of this.

He's not disabled by the way. A very healthy Mauritian man.

I dunno it's interesting because maybe expecting to be fed and massaged is normal over there, if they're in the states do those social norms overrule etc. As I say sounds more like a house maid. Over here we couldn't possibly consider that an equal relationship because how can they spoon feed each other. It's deeply chauvinistic. The sense of doubt by the one providing the "services" is eye opening... Why even need to ask that on the internet.

I'd half expect the next question to be "he makes me do it when I don't want to, am I being cold?" Or even, "sometimes he hurts me, am I being too soft?"

You also get those kinds of questions that clearly indicate this isn't even a relationship, stuff like "we hold hands but when I try to kiss him/her or tell him/her I love them they try to get away from me. But we've been hanging out for 3 weeks and we both like pizza and movies. Am I loving them too much?".

Relationships in other cultures are nuts by western standards. My wife had some Japanese friends over who all had babies, as do we, and they were all amazed that I could do things like hold the baby, play with the baby, etc. My wife explained that in Japan very few men would do even a quarter of what I do around the house which I think is insane, she said most of their husbands will only look after the baby when their wives need to use the washroom. I think in a lot of African societies it's even worse

Handfeeding your boyfriend

I love the way the original post puts in the handfeeding thing almost as a throwaway comment - oh yeah and when I cook this I feed it to my boyfriend obvs, nothing unusual there.

I can kind of get how feeding your partner certain foods in the right circumstances may have a certain pleasure to it, but for the most part wouldn't this kind of thing just be incredibly strawberry floating annoying? What if they don't cut the food quite right, or put the ideal proportion of each element onto the fork? Also what else exactly are you doing at the time that benefits from someone else feeding you - are your own hands not available for the task?!

Just speaking for myself, I would find being fed my food incredibly irritating. Maybe I wanted a bit of sausage with egg. Maybe I wanted 4 french fries instead of 3. Dipped in tomato sauce, but only I know how much tomato sauce I wanted. Or MAYBE I WANTED BAKED BEANS ON THEIR OWN...OH strawberry float IT'S FALLEN OFF THE FORK YOU DOZY MOO!
