Is that surprising? There is one forum for Republicans and one for Democrats. I'm sure outside of gaming there are major forums that were previously somewhat apolitical that have since split their base in the last few years. It's another example of how US is basically ungovernable at this point.

While I do generally agree that Resetera is a cesspit with overly zealous mods, any and all discussion of emulation over there inevitably gets derailed into "So we support piracy", regardless of what the actual topic is. There is plenty of legitimate discussion to be had around emulation, but without the mods stepping in its just not possible over there.

They've always basically turned a blind eye to game piracy when it's obvious people aren't doing it for teh preservation.

It's a massive mess. The mods are digging themselves an even bigger hole.

It's so simple how to fix it. Have a transparent - 3 warning then a ban, then ban increases as you get banned each time unless it's really bad then a perma for any offense. The bans have a set duration for what the breach of rules is and that way if someone gets banned for 3 days for threadwhining? then they know why and it was written somewhere.

Right now they ban people for seemingly random times and it's never consistent, then people they want to perma when they've done something barely wrong get left on duration pending for months so they can't rejoin the site and they can't be held accountable for it.
