Got banned as well. Posted in that Wargroove thread. Said I agreed with some aspects of a opposing viewpoint post (mainly I agreed about Resetera overreacting about the topic). Someone basically insinuated I was problematic or a complete racist. Never got asked to define what I agreed with. Ban reason is dismissing concern of representation. I don't think I did that, well at least not intentionally on my part.

Reminds me of being repeatedly told I'm sexist and blocked on twitter for using the word banana split after repeatedly clarifying I used it in the case of two definitions in two English dictionaries and made no reference to gender at all. I know that really upsets resetera as well. Anyway this guy was European. People are ridiculous about swear words sometimes. I mean, be offended sure, but don't contrive whole dogmas from it. There seems to be a lot of similar interpretation oven there and zero nuance or good faith. If someone plainly says "all women are banana splits" that is very different and obviously abhorrent to calling a single person a banana split for being horrible and abiding basic human rights abuses, for example.

I really want to see a screenshot of this 1 erection point: click "I understand" thing. It sounds like one of the most ridiculous forms ever conceived of on the Internet and I would like it for my sketchbook.

Shortly after ResetEra launched I got a warning for calling the Royal Family a bunch of scrounging banana splits.

What bothers me about the absolute objection towards the word is that insisting what is occasionally (and very rarely) used in the UK nowadays to refer to female genitals is for some reason more offensive than male ones i.e. dick, cock, whatever. The word was historically used as the actual medical term for a vulva, for example, so even if that were the case, it's not necessarily inaccurate.That implies the female genitals themselves are offensive... which is, you guessed it, sexist. A bunch of different articles acknowledge that it rarely refers exclusively to female genitalia and neither has it been used consistently and often enough - as often as for example other slurs like n****r or f*g were for hundreds of years - to persecute people. I can't understand it more simply than it just means an awful person, or a woman you disapprove of, but only - then - if you, well, are a sexist banana split. In which case you should be morally eviscerated.

I think women have the intelligence to synthesise language and determine its meaning based on its context and who has said it. Denying them that right by insisting they must be protected from exposure to a word about their genitals - sometimes - is also sexist.

Resetera in general gives off that vibe.

Same thing about strawberry float or gooseberry fool etc which refer to intercourse or shitting, it's just prudishness but maybe that's me and I've made a horrible mistake. Anyone who's commented about it here from Scotland for example, it's just a normal word like prick or arse or dickhead or bastard. It's hardly as if bastard is used as a derogative slur for people who are born out of wedlock anymore. Refuting this demonstrates imo a profound lack of appreciation for the delicacy of language and is kind of bigoted as well. I won't get into free speech as I don't want to evoke alt-right rhetoric.

No, that's coloured people, people of colour is obviously completely different.

I'm guessing there are probably some historical connotations, which I'll admit I have no idea about. The only other reason I can see for it being that way is that it puts emphasis on the characteristic first instead of the person, in the same way that in academics we call those with disabilities "people with disabilites" rather than "disabled people", or just "disabled". But that's just a guess, I have no idea if it's the same.
