Hi all,
I posted this in the Chat Thread and Ad (thanks so much for the donation) suggested I make a separate thread for it rather than having it get lost in there.
Last May my Mum was diagnosed with lung cancer which had spread to her pelvis and her brain, and it was strawberry floating gooseberry fool. She's been told it's incurable and she's always going to have cancer, and it's a case of prolonging her life as long as they possibly can. She's had chemo, radiotherapy and gamma knife surgery in the last 12 months, and she still remains the most positive person I know about this and everything in life.
I've decided to run the Race for Life in her honour, because if she can get through this as well as she has, I can get off my arse and run 5k. I managed to surprise her with me, my brother, my Dad, my partner and one of my close friends all doing it which was humbling enough, but to raise money for this great cause that so many of us have no doubt been affected by is even more amazing.
I'm currently doing the Couch to 5K program to get ready for it (Week 4, Run 3) and still have a while to go, but the Race isn't until July 21st so i've got a bit of time to prepare for it.
Amazingly, we've managed to hit our team goal on the first day, which is absolutely incredible. But I still have a way to go for my individual contribution to the team. I'm aiming for £150, which means i'm half way there, but i'd love to be able to reach that.
If anyone is able to donate anything, no matter how big or small, it is greatly appreciated.
And sorry for the sob story!
