Yakuza Kiwami 2 9.5/10
Arugubly the best in the Yakuza series with great combat, loads of activities, hilarious side stories and a thrilling story.

Spiderman

An almost perfect superhero game. They nail the Rocsteady Batman combat but the open world environment feels much more natural here than in City or Knight. The side missions are your typical open world affair but they get the amount of them and gradual drip feed of new missions is done so that you never feel overwhelmed. The main story missions wouldn't be out of place in a linear third person action game and the plot is always interesting. It looks strawberry floating phenomenal at times and shows that art direction will always trump horsepower.

Another fantastic first party game for Sony who've just nailed it with the exclusives this gen.

I would argue that 0 is still better, but K2 is better than K1. Myy main problems with K2 was the very end, where everyone betrays everyone else or does a "haha, I was playing you all along!" reveal, and it became more a question of who WASN'T a Jingweon survivor than who was by the end.

Arkedo series : Jump

A fun little game that should of been longer. Quite a chilled game until challenge level 31 (I slapped the gooseberry fool out of it like Fury did to Wilder @ the weekend).

A solid 3/5

This remains to my 'to buy' list - would love to find it for below £15.

To The Moon – 9/10

+ Charming visuals
+ Lovely soundtrack
+ Intriguing and emotive plot
+ Just the right length

- Puzzle bits were a bit annoying
- Writing was iffy in places

I had no idea what this was about before playing it, but I completed it in one sitting (4 hours). It really sucked me in and was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
I think the guy who created it has done another game, so I’ll definitely be checking that out.

Brave on PS3. Not bad but not great. A slightly better than average movie license, a solid 6/10 I’d say.

I still think about To The Moon a lot after playing it for the first time a few months ago. I'm waiting for the Android version to go on sale so I can force my wife into playing it.

Think I’ve reached the end with Arkedo Swap. I’ll try grab these few last trophies, don’t think I’ll 100% this due to this challenge “end chapter 5 with only one chain reaction”.

The only way to do it is to create a super Deus ex machina extreme (EXxXxXxtRrREeEeEeEeEeme) combo move. If it had the same blocks every time you started it would be a touch easier but it’s random. There’s always a flipping game dev that’s got to go strawberry floating overboard with a challenge that puts me in a sour mood with their game.

Why can’t you game devs knock it the strawberry float off?. What’s your strawberry floating problem?.

Legit feel better getting it off my chest. Definitely recommend Jump & Pixel. Swap not so much.

Finally finished the story missions of Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

I've spent ages doing side missions and got to level 63 and I've still got loads of mercenaries and a few cultists to go despite killing what seems like hundreds of mercenaries. I chose to save Casandra and reunite the family as it seemed like the right choice.

Overall I loved the game and put in over 100 hours. I'm still going to potter about from time to time as I still have forts to do and people to kill but I'm not doing New game + as the game is just vast. overall a fantastic game and I'm not burnt out on the series as I've only played a few in the series.

9.5/10 It would be 10 if there was a little less side missions and more of the less combat heavy ones as I enjoyed them a lot.

Thimbleweed Park.

I remember playing Monkey Island a while back and realising that sadly these games had not aged well at all, and it was a far cry from the classic that I remembered. Well imagine that realisation, followed by someone shitting on your cornflakes and that's Thimbleweed Park. Utterly bereft of comedy, drama or anything compelling, but full of in-jokes, fourth wall breaking and nonsensical clues. Dogshit.

2/10

Also, Qube 2.

A passable Portal clone, which while lacking in decent story gives some good inventive puzzles. Runs out of steam about an hour from the end.

6/10

How much of the 100 hours is standard Ubisoft "busywork"? I have this in my to play pile but I'm a little burnout out on Ubisoft open world games now.

I only recently (well last 6 or so years) properly played through Monkey Island and loved it. Heard this game was meant to be good though.

You should try Darkside Detective if you can and haven't already. It's a point and click game, but it's much less obtuse than others as it's basiaclly just a funny game and the emphasis is on the Lols rather than the puzzling.

A Plague Tale: Innocence - 8.5/10

Really enjoyed it, nice pacing, mostly very good characters/story despite being mostly kids.

I would imagine you could play the game in a much much quicker way than I did and I don't think you need to do much grinding if that's not your thing. I won't say you can just do the story missions and that's it as you'll need to do some forts and stuff for a few extra xp but I honestly think you could complete the story without much fuss as the enemies scale with you mostly so you don't need to be max level of 50 to get toi the end.

There's also a ton of ways to totally cheese the strawberry float and my personal favourite is just getting on a high roof and sniping people as for some reason the ai (I played on hard mode so it may be a little less stupid on harder difficulty) seems to have a fear of heights.

If you are burnt out though I doubt this is going to do much to pull you back in but the graphics are amazing on the One X and well worth a look at least.

Just finished SOTC for the fourth time and you think I would be bored but I really still enjoyed it, even though I knew how to tackle and kill each colossus.

The remake is stunning in places, im sure I’ll be playing it again in the next year

PLAY | Persona 3 Reloaded [3h]
WATCH | Ted Lasso S3, HiJack S1, Red Dwarf S4, Dexter S2

Bioshock Infinite - [7]

Third time I’ve finished this, and if I hadn’t read up in detail on the plot/story then I still wouldn’t have a scooby about what was going on. In some places it’s incredibly blatant to the point where it’s patronising, yes yes I understand you, but in others it’s like...eh?? The whole 2 guns only, recharging shield, sprinting skyhooking mechanics are by and large a detriment. And you can’t manually save the game anywhere either!
Went into the Burial at Sea story and the plot there is a bit of a leap an’all. They’ve meddled with the Rapture mythology too much.

Yakuza 0. 9/10

It's certainly been a while (perhaps even going back a generation) since I've been through such a compelling and brilliantly told story. Both Kiryu and Goro's threads tie together really well and, between the main story and variety of sub-stories, these two proved incredibly likeable/endearing. The gameplay packs a solid punch also - I really hope later games don't feel too different in this regard - and I still very much enjoy wrecking people's gooseberry fool, engaging stray groups whenever they appear.

I'm not quite done with all the side-content yet, but I'm at least determined to wrap up every sub-story before moving on.

Latest game in my backlog of doom is about finished (got one more trophy to get for the 100%)
& that game is: Battlefield 1943.

That is all.
