Some of the gadgets make missions pretty fun, and doing a mission in a 'stealth' style was satisfying, but the actual missions themselves were quite repetitive and it felt like it was up to you to tackle them in different ways to keep things from getting stale. The car handling seemed really bad too. It just wasn't much fun to drive around, compared to something like GTA V, which I know is a pretty high bar, but it didn't even feel close.

I played through 2 as a stealth game - no guns, only gadgets/hacking and really enjoyed it, which was odd as I normally hate stealth games because I'm terrible at them.

Yeah, if I had one criticism of the stealth aspect was that it had that thing where alerting one enemy would let all enemies instantly know where you are. They had the radio thing for calling reinforcements that you could interrupt, so wish they'd done something like that for informing the guys already there. There was so much you could do to distract and/or eliminate them though and that was great.

Watch Dogs Legions - PS5. Finished it & got the platinum eventually.

Enjoyable, definitely liked the hacking & stealth aspects of it, although some of the missions I just decided the carnage option was more fun. Three of the collectible trophies are buggy, although seem to have been fixed in the latest update - but when a game that bases itself around playing as many different team members forces you to find all the collectibles with one character, it's a bit shoddy.

Blair Witch on Series S. I saw this was short and leaving Gamepass very shortly so I blasted through it in one sitting this evening. Not entirely sure I liked it, it’s easy to get lost and just wander in circles and certain stealthy sections are very frustrating. I’m gonna give it 5/10.

Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order

A bit clunky, boring characters, but it was okay I guess. Not something I'd play again.

This is very much another game that only I seemed to enjoy. I might pick it up for the Quest at some point for another playthrough.

I think I got lucky as at no point did I get lost. I have read most people do hit this issue.

Overcooked

My wife and I just finished getting all the trophies on this and we both loved it. Really looking forward to starting on the new one tomorrow.

Sine Mora EX.

Admittidly i have only finished the story on "normal" or whatever the easier difficulty setting is. I tried a run through on challenging to unlock the alternative narrative, but ran out of continues, and it would appear that it ends your run entirely - not just the progress you had made on that stage (though i may be mistaken and i simply hit the wrong button without paying attention to the prompt).

Anyway, it was a very decent and very pretty bullet hell shooter, and well worth the £6 or so it goes for for a physical copy.

It really does make me realise just how poor i am at these sorts of games, or at least how much practice it must take to be good at them. This one is far more accomodating than most, largely because you dont die if you take a hit, so you can retrieve your power ups and not simply be in the downward spiral of being weaker and weaker against stronger and stronger opposition.

Story is pretty nuts, and also pretty interesting. I will probably dig this out to try and play through the harder difficulty again at some point in the future. All the other modes are basically "off liits" to me - I can access them but I will never clear any of the challenges or be competing on the leaderboards.

Very short game, probably 50% scrolling and 50% boss fights. Probably a cople of hours to clear.

Simply because its not a genre i am passionate about or dedicated to. Maybe the best one I have played since Under Defeat on the DC. That was cool.

Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise on PS4. It’s Yakuza meets Fist of the North Star and a heck of a lot of fun to play. I was close to giving this 9/10 as bar some tough difficulty spikes it was great from start to finish but I’m marking it down for the locked scenes in the final chapter. I streamed the thing for around 30 hrs over the past 4 or so weeks only to have all the cool climactic part of the game and the final boss battles blocked from being streamed, I hate that gooseberry fool.

The Great Ace Attorney Adventures (part one of the chronicles collection on Switch).

A good time as always. As some have said elsewhere on this forum, there is a lot of over-explanation which drags the pace down (there really were not any concepts that were high level enough to justify it), and it felt easier than all of the previous games, but it was still excellent and the localisation was great. Looking forward to playing the second game in a couple of months time. For now i'm going to watch the escapades mini episodes that it advises you not to watch until you have finished the first game.

The Artful Escape.

More pretentious nonsense. I have to stop "playing" these non-games which also lack a good story or any real decision making.

Better than Genesis Noir, worse than The Last Stop (which did have a decent story to be fair).

Harsh! The soundtrack & visuals alone bump it to a 7, and the writing isn’t completely terrible. It’s got Carl bloody Weathers in it!

Nope (well, yes, all those things are great), but as a whole it completely fell flat for me. It wasn't even like it had terrible characters or anything, its just that it made me miss The Mighty Boosch, Rocky and David Bowie more than it made me yearn to play more of the game.

The Last of Us: Part 2
On a technical level this is a masterpiece. I played it on PS5 and could hardly believe it was a PS4 game.
I had managed to avoid all spoilers and found it drew me in quite quickly but then became a bit of a slog. Just as I thought it was ending it turned out I was only halfway. I actually enjoyed the gameplay and story in the second half much more than the first.

It was a bit too long, and some story stuff didn't work for me, but I was in constant awe at the world Naughty Dog has created. The level design and gameplay encourages different playstyles, so I'll be sure to go back and hoover up some trophies. Solid 9/10.

Totally. The length of the game actually worked against it. Just wanted to finish in the end.

Red Dead Redemption 2 - 10/10

It's a masterpiece. Took me a while to complete the main story as I was so engrossed in just exploring the world - completing side missions, going on rampages or adventures in the forests and hills, just being a cowboy. But when I finally did return to the story, it pulled me in and I just had to see it through to the end. Arthur is a fantastic protagonist and I was genuinely sad when he died, especially as I'd been a bit of a psycho at times on my playthrough and he ended up with the low honour ending, being shot in the head like a dog by that filthy Micah Bell. The epilogue was great as well and really took its time to reach the finale, it let the world and player breathe a bit, but it didn't outstay its welcome. Revenge was sweet :datass:

And now that I've finished the story, I can't wait to jump straight back in and complete all of the little bits and bobs that are outstanding, I'm 85% overall completion and I doubt I'll reach 100%, but I'm going to enjoy every second of trying.

What a game
