The Sinking City

4/10

Don't waste your time, it's the worst £40 I've spent on a game in years and the remorse is too much to bear.

Did it give you that sinking feeling every time you played it?

You're all correct, the depths of its crapness defy all human understanding.

To be fair, it has an interesting investigation mechanic going for it but that's ruined by having to deal with the rest of the game which is gooseberry fool.

Just play one of their Sherlock games instead.

Super Mario 3D World - 9.5/10

An absolute joy. Second time I've played it through and while I think it is better in multiplayer I still absolutely loved it in single player. It is so playable and the pick up and play nature is great. The levels tend to be short and sweet, full of variety and ideas.

Bowser's Fury is a great addition too. With the added online, this is easily one of the better Wii U ports. Glad it has been given a second go on Switch.

Rex Kramer wrote:Titanfall 2 - Played through the single player again on XBox purely to tick the 50 rewards points per day for an achievement. Completed it years ago on PS4 and loved it then. Still absolutely love it now. It's probably the best single player FPS content I've played since COD4:MW. The story is utter bobbins but the gameplay flow, change ups and traversal are all top notch. Not sure I want to get sucked back in to the multiplayer so will probably move on to something else.

I bought this game for a fiver. The campaign surprised the hell out of me. It was really good

Fez - 7/10

Loved the visual design in this. I had a pleasant experience with it. I didn't go for the full complete, but I finished it with 32 cubes.

The only thing that annoys me about the single player is the fact your Titan decides to give you a one shot kill, automatically tracking multiple targets pistol at the end. Thanks a strawberry floating bunch mate, could have done with that from the start.

Adios

Short narrative piece with minimal interactivity. I'm a sucker for this sort of thing and yet this fell completely flat. The voice acting is wonderful, but it's still a man talking about chestnuts and horses for an hour. There's one good conversation, between the player character and his son, that uses the "choose dialogue option" system in a clever way but the rest is dull as strawberry floating dishwater.

I was expecting a sting in the end too but...no. No it ended exactly as you'd expect a story of a man trying to get out of feeding mob hits to his pigs would end.

4/10 - deducted a point for the frankly ridiculous pricing. It's up at £14 which is mental. It's a £7.99/8 experience max.

Mighty Gunvolt - 6/10

I beat the game in 14 minutes. Not what I expected. The school level music is a strawberry floating banger tho.

Resident Evil 2 - Remake. Incredible game. Loved it. 9/10.

I don't remember the original. In this, graphics, atmosphere and voice acting were great with a nice variety of enemies and the difficulty ramps up. Bosses a bit tedious.

I love a mod, so enjoyed playing it through as Judy from Cyberpunk. Images from a new ultrawide monitor.

Devil May Cry V - Son of Sparda difficulty

10/10 - It's impossible to play this game without a massive grin on my face the entire time. Nero is also a bit of alright :datass:

Daymare 1998 on PS4. A decent enough survival horror game but the story made no sense. I give it 6/10.

Never Alone - 8/10

Played through this and the Fox Tales extra in co-op with my son; he loved it, its made it into his top 10! It works really well in co-op and its beautifully presented. The only downside really, is that it's quite short.

I was just about to ask how the strawberry float you managed that with such a super hard final boss... then realised that was Azure Striker Gunvolt.

I was actually mistaken about the time I beat this game. I finished it in 30 minutes. For some reason, it took Steam a while to update that.

Donut County - 5/10

Very charming and well written, but ultimately slight. Just found it to be too simplistic and the levels/abilities didn't evolve much.

Yakuza 3 Remastered

I always understood this to be the weak game in the series, but i actually thought that it is at least as good as Kiwami 2 and therefore better than Kiwami 1. Although the mechanics feel a bit more dated here, the depth and variety of the sub stories is far greater, giving the game a much more rewarding feel. I also keep hearing about the over use of block by the enemies in Y3, but i did not realy notice this (playing on normal dificulty).

Dabbled in the mini games, but was mainly there for the main story (which was decent, mainly for the fleshing out of Kiryu's backstory and character, but lacked a great antagonist for me) and the substories (great, as mentioned earlier, but still nowhere near Y0).

RE2 Remake

Resident Evil has long been a blind spot for me as one of the major gaming franchises that I have had no experience with. However, after all of the great reviews and game of the year nominations for the remake I decided to give RE2 a try and am very glad that I did. Without the original as a point of reference I thought it was excellent as a modern game in its own right. I really enjoyed the sense of exploration and puzzling involved, returning to areas later with the necessary equipment. This isn't something I expected from the franchise, which as I understand has since become more action oriented. The game creates a brilliant sense of atmosphere and claustrophobia with the environments and limited resources adding to the suspense. It's incredible to look at with superb use of shadows and lighting and I liked the concept of a 2nd run, which varied things just enough to keep you motivated to see the other storyline. While I understand the remake of 3 received a more lukewarm response critically, I'll probably still check it out given how much I enjoyed 2.

9/10
