Enter The Gungeon.

5/5 for the fun it's given me.

Such an entertaining, polished experience with so so many surprises (read: guns) up its sleeve. And the game is so focused in its commitment to the theme of 'guns' or 'is sort of to do with guns' that it borders on the heroic.

Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds - 8/10

More Horizon is always a good thing; set in a beautiful environment, with lovely, crunchy snow, the DLC is surprisingly substantial. The new enemies offer a differing challenge to those met previously and are pretty tough (despite the addition of new weapons); its just a shame there's only a limited set of new creatures to take on. Would definitely recommend getting if you've played through and enjoyed the main game.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider - 6/10

There are certainly positives to the game with some beautiful graphics and cool set pieces, but there's plenty wrong with it too. Far too many Insta-death moments (piranha!) and quite frankly this version of Lara is just a rubbish, unlikable protagonist. A disappointing end to a disappointing trilogy which started with promise.

Inside.

I think this was kinda ruined for me by being billed as really profound, 'best twist ending ever!' kinda thing. In reality it's nothing of the sort. As with Limbo the atmosphere is second to none and the game is fun enough, but once again there are serious questions over value for money. Three hours and done, with very little replay value. Overall I enjoyed the game, but I'm a little bit perplexed by the praise showered over the game, just as I was with Limbo.

7/10.

GoW 2018.

A complete masterpiece. Can't remember the last time I bumped the difficulty level up to prolong the experience. Masterful storytelling and the best graphics I have ever witnessed. I think I took over 50 photos.
The sidequests were engaging and not too abundant, making them far more desirable to complete. There is still a lot of things eft for me to polish off, but I will return to them at a later date to remind myself just how good the combat, puzzling and composition of this game are.

Detroit: Become Human - 7/10

Finally picked this up after the recent price reductions. Glad I picked it up, but also glad I waited and didn't pay full price as can't really see myself replaying it to see the impacts of different actions and decisions. Still, I had fun with it. Graphics are pretty amazing and some of the characters and themes are interesting, even if it isn't exactly subtle as others have suggested. Don't know if I quite got into it as much as Heavy Rain though in terms of his previous games (skipped Beyond after the negative feedback).

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 : part 1

Going to give this a 1/5

Such a letdown. A cats fart has more soul than this game.

Sypro (PS4): 7/10

My first time playing the game. Some bits that had me tearing my hair (what's left of it) out, but it's an enjoyable game. Now Spyro 2 next!

Dead Island – 7/10
I’d read lots of negative things about this but ended up enjoying it. It was satisfying as strawberry float to just hack a load of zombies to death, and while I generally think zombies are pretty lame, it didn’t get in the way of a decent game. It’s got flaws for sure, like clunky controls and a bit of a lack of variety, but it’s enjoyable enough.

Toybox Turbos – 8/10
Micro Machines in everything but name. Good fun, everything done well, decent level of challenge and the right amount of content.

Glass Masquerade DLC (Halloween/Inception) – 8/10
The base game was/is great, and while these two pieces of DLC were short, they were cheap as chips (think one might’ve been free actually) and added more of the same (which was all I was looking for). Good, relaxing stuff.

Super Mario Bros 2 – 5/10
Didn’t particularly enjoy this. Didn’t feel like a Mario game (yeah I know the history behind it), I didn’t like the ‘pulling-items-out-of-the-ground’ mechanic and it just wasn’t that fun for me, often feeling like a chore. It was an okay platformer, but one that I can’t see the fuss about.

I'm not sure there is a fuss, I think "okay" is the general consensus isn't it?

Don't know. By 'fuss' I guess I meant it's the 4th best-selling NES game, and views I read on it are generally very positive.

It probably sold so well off the back of Super Mario Bros. I like it myself, was fun. Though I prefer 1 and very much prefer 3.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean - 6.5/10. My first 1000 pointer of the year, right at the end! It was a fun little distraction, but turned into a bit of a slog by the end due to the repetitive nature of the game. LEGO Captain Jack was adorable though, which is made all the more impressive given that I hate Johnny Depp.

Assassin's creed origins 9/10

The game is far too big for it's own good, but I really enjoyed the 65 odd hours it took to finish it.

Titanfall 2 (single player campaign) 8/10

Not quite the mind blowing experience the internet would have you believe, but then I think the I impact of the bit that's seen as the high point was lessened by having had a very similar experience in disonoured 2's crack in the slab level. It was a nice short snappy campaign though, and we'll worth the £4 it cost.

Both awesome choices :datass:

Did you know Glass Masquerade 2 is out in January? It was supposed to be out last month, then this month, but it slipped twice (no idea why). I can't wait for it, more of the same but bigger and better by all accounts.

I only found out when I was on Steam and downloading the DLC a few weeks back. Just saw a section for Glass Masquerade 2 and thought "oh!". Nice surprise. Can't say I knew it had been delayed either, although I probably wouldn't have bought it right away anyway, due to 'The Backlog'. Good to know it sold well enough to warrant a sequel though. :toot:

Spyro 2 (PS4)

Fairly simple platformer, but as with Spyro 1, some hair tearing moments (strawberry float THOSE strawberry floating EGG THIEVES!!!!)

7/10

Now on towards to finish the trilogy.

Well signposted, beautiful little platform puzzler. Highly recommended to fans of Gorogoa.

Sniper Elite V2

Fantastic game let down by the end of the last few missions. When you are about to be done, the 118 118 dial up a bad dude crew roll up. Kill them, then some more turn up. Zzzzzzzzzz  I just want to finish.

Going to give this a bollock shooting 4/5.

Nail'd - 6/10

+ Looks decent and runs smoothly
+ Good sense of speed
+ Some well-designed tracks

- The game's very fussy about which route you take through some sections of the courses
- Sometimes you explode and respawn for seemingly no reason (like hitting a bush)
- No stunts (which is pretty gooseberry fool given there are stunt races)
- Some badly designed tracks/parts of tracks
- Too many cups/events
- Too few tracks given the number of events - gets very repetitive racing on the same few tracks
- Soundtrack lacks variety
