Finished The Outer Worlds this morning.

Really liked the game, I hope they make a sequel and make the open areas bigger.

The Gardens Between - 7/10

Good but a bit on the short side, glad I didn't pay full price for it (90% off during midweek sale on Steam :toot: ).

Had a bit of dust in my eyes during the ending too.

Agreed, i loved every minute of its short run time when i played it last year on Game Pass.

Was surprised to finish Concrete Genie yesterday.

No sooner had the game introduced combat and new traversal mechanics - next thing I know I'm in the endgame. It's a very beautiful, heartwarming game and I'm glad I went along for the ride, but this wound up feeling bitter sweet on the whole as it was so short lived.

7/10

Going to nab the platinum of course, as well as getting the most out of the free paint and photo modes, so it's still got at least some replay value.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Very good. As reviews had suggested it certainly seems to take inspiration from lots of other games, but it mixes the features of each to good effect. Does a lot right and actually had a story I found better than most of the movies! Loses some points for a bit too much back tracking and some difficulty spikes but overall I really enjoyed it. 8/10

Metro: Exodus

Another strong entry in the Metro series. I enjoyed the mix of outdoor environments and more typical confined areas. I liked the story and find the world of Metro very interesting. Satisfying gun play and beautiful to look at. I had some issues with bugs (the game crashing, enemies freezing, etc), plus I think the good/bad morality gauge isn't particularly great, but it was a fun game nonetheless. 8/10

God of War-PS4- Wow! After a couple of false starts with this game due to it being so different to all the God of War games that had come before, this game is something else. I couldn't get my head around the changes initially as it wasn't what I was looking for in a God of War game, plus I'm sure something else was distracting me at the time.(Probably Destiny 2...)

Anyway this game is a whole lot of Zelda, with a more refined combat system, but with whole lot more gore. There's so much to find, so much to do and I'm going to platinum this at some point in the future for sure, but that backlog waits for no man so I'm moving on to...one of many. TLDR? Play God of War. 9/10

Shadows of the Damned

Not a bad game, but it all felt a little bit messy

I really like Shadows of the Damned. The game's biggest flaw is being too easy - otherwise it's very much like a more liberally wacky Resi 4 (which is almost exactly what you'd expect given the developers!)

In Travis Strikes Again, one of the later games/worlds does a bait-and-switch and ends up being a quasi-sequel to Shadows of the Damned. It was a highlight! And practically says "I wish I could make an actual sequel".

Uncharted Lost Legacy - 8/10

Had a lot of fun with this. Much shorter than 4 obviously but that meant it was very well paced and was a great ride for the 8 hours it took me to see t through.

Like 4, it looked absolutely brilliant and I really enjoyed the story. While not particularly deep or complex it’s the characters that make it, who are both written and acted superbly. My main criticism would be that they didn’t really offer anything new to the gameplay formula of 4, which while fun, wasn’t particularly deep to begin with. Also, I found the puzzles a little easy, and while nice ways of breaking the action up, they all felt a little on the simple side. Nevertheless, well worth playing and the ending was fantastic I thought.

I’m not sure now whether to get the remastered trilogy. I’d like to go through more of the stories with these characters but I’m not sure if the step back after playing 4 will feel a little jarring. I hear the first in particular suffers a lot. Will probably be tempted at some point though.

Killzone 2

Much to my surprise I didn't enjoy it nearly as much this time around. Felt real clunky to play and the pallet is washed out and drab looking. Grew rather bored toward the end.

I struggled first time around. It looked stunning for its time but the controls felt so heavy and unresponsive and the game had bad difficulty spikes. I know it wasn’t well received but killzone 3 was better for me. It borrowed from the COD of its era. Also it was pretty good in 3D. Remember when that was a thing!

Little Nightmares - 7/10

I don't know what to make of the story in this, it's weird as hell. I loved the visuals though. The game itself played okay. Some annoying bits due to the trial and error nature of it. Was really short, but it moves along interestingly enough.

Enjoyed it more than Inside (it's kinda similar).

South Park: The Stick of Truth

I replayed it this weekend to save myself from spending money on the sequel and I'd forgotten how genuinely funny it is. It's just an extended episode of the show wrapped up in a simple but satisfying RPG loop but it's so entertaining. And I liked that it's short enough to be finished in a few sittings. I'm going to have to go back and watch some of the shows best episodes now as it's made me really nostalgic. I'm also going to have to go and replay some of Obsidian's other games. Think I'll either go back and play New Vegas or KOTOR2 (which I started a long time ago and never finished).

I must've missed that as I played on PC, which I believe is uncensored. I'm glad they got a little dig in though

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PC)

I played this through once not long after it came out but never anything else beyond the first black ops, so thought I'd give this and the series a go again as they're fairly short (by modern game standards) linear stories and now my pc can probably run the more recent ones well and they seem todepreciate in price very quickly once they are no longer the current iteration. Nowadays it seems a bit formulaic, but that's because it set the blueprint for all the other cinematic modern military shooters which copied it since, and it has the seemingly forgotten benefit of linearity in that there is no backtracking or faffing about; but I guess that means fewer opportunities for monetisation "engagement".

Metro Exodus (1X)

Stunning, terrifying, tense, atmospheric, devestating and absolutely immersive. The first couple of hours were terrible in my opinion, and I dropped it then, only to reinstall it and absolutely fall in love with the journey of the Aurora. A technical masterpiece, with the only 2 knocks against it being the incredibly long load times (we are talking C64 times here), and the way the pacing between conversations is a bit all over the place. But really, anyone with Game Pass, give this a shot if you want a really different, really involving FPS with a moving story.

9/10

The last time I tried it one xbone X, it wouldn’t proceed past the first hour or so. It was a common problem according to the internet, and it was said that the patches wouldn’t stop the freezing issues...but it’s alright now?

Really? I had never heard of that issue. Slow loading was the only technical issue i suffered with. No crashes etc.
