Tales of Arise - PlayStation 5 - 32 hours to complete. Everyone at level 52 I think. The end of game goes in a bit of a different direction and it ends up being a lot of corridors and high level enemies. Good for the final grind before the last boss but frustrating that there are no fast travel points so what you've got in terms of healing items will need to last til the end.

I've still got loads to do and enjoy the game so will keep playing doing side quests and trying to get better weapons for everyone.

I'd recommend the game as it's a good Japanese RPG, runs very well, looks beautiful and the story is interesting. Enemies are varied and I felt more powerful as the game went on.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales (PS5) - 8.5/10

Really enjoyed this as my introduction to PS5 gaming. Lovely graphics, good controls, decent-enough story (although "The Tinkerer" was a bit of a weak villain). It was quite short but I guess that's to be expected as it's kinda like an expansion pack to the main Spider-Man game, which I shall be purchasing off the back of this :toot:

I'm not near my computer right now so some imagination is required...

"You only bought Miles Morales standard edition."
"Yes, and I am going to get Spider-Man Remastered now!"
"..."
"I am going to get Sider-Man Remastered, aren't I?"

 yeah I know. My PS5 bundle came with the standard edition of Miles Morales so I didn't have a choice of getting the ultimate edition instead, whaddayagonnado?

Just been reading back through this thread and I now want to also get Death Stranding Director's Cut, it looks stunning in ultra-wide mode :datass:

Unpacking - 8/10

A surprisingly emotional and wholesome game. It's on Game Pass at the moment and I downloaded it yesterday for a change of pace. What I thought was going to be a relaxing puzzle game ended up having a surprising amount of emotional depth. It's basically telling the story of this particular woman's life - done solely via the items you are unpacking, as well as the houses you move into. Good soundtrack too.

It's short though. It sucked me in and I was all done in around 4 and a bit hours. I do think that suits it though - it didn't overstay it's welcome. I did miss some achievements so there is replayability there too.

I did initially question it when I saw it on top of Eurogamer's 'Game Of The Year' list, but I do see where the praise is coming from.

Let's Go Pikachu- 8/10

An enjoyable nostalgia trip! I understand why some people hate the QoL improvements like EXP All but I loved them- I'm 32 years old I don't have any time these days for hours of training. Would buy a Let's Go Johto in a heartbeat and I'd be fine if this became the Pokemon template going forward.

This is going to become the first Pokedex I complete ever.

The Gunk

A throughly decent, atmospheric 6 hour adventure. Completely unremarkable in every way, but polished and enjoyable.

I thought the last hour was the best by some margin, with some puzzles and situational awareness that asked a bit more of the player. The combat was very easy throughout - I think there was one area where i died a handful of times.

Power ups were a bit dull and largely unnessesary. I liked the sucking mechanic.

Yeah, I felt the same. It's perfectly set up for us 90s kids who are now adults with jobs :toot:

You technically can't finish it, but I promoted a character in Deep Rock Galactic, which takes at least 10-15 hours

That game is a 9/10

The mission variety is so good and the gameplay is just fun. Wanna chill and just mine stuff? Go for it, want a challenge and to have to shoot tons of aliens or do a boss fight? Your choice.

It's like Monster Hunter with Dwarves and Minerals.

I agree with this. I enjoyed my time with it and loved the environments and the ‘cleaning’ mechanic and transformation.

Harshly scored down in my opinion and well worth your time if you like 3D platforming/adventure and simple puzzles.

Guardians of the Galaxy

Really enjoyed this. Gameplay was fun enough although it did feel like an early prototype of FF7Remake's combat. GotG would've been much better if they'd just copied FF7 and let you switch characters mid-combat.

The writing and comedy more than made up for the simple combat though.

Feel like I'll definitely play this again one day to see how much the different options actually change things.

A strong 7

I've no intention of ever doing that master trainer nonsense though once I realised what it entailed.

It Takes Two

6/10

Don't believe the hype, doesn't deserve any of the awards it received.

It's definitely worth a look though. I enjoyed it more in the early stages and had fun with it but the writing is dreadful and it's about two chapters too long. A Way Out was definitely more entertaining.

Didn't enjoy this at all, minimal gameplay combined with a desperately uninteresting "story" that did nothing for me at all. I keep reading about how the environmental story telling was so clever and nuanced. It wasn't..... it really wasn't.

The sound design and music was nice, as was the pixel art, but it was 3 or 4 of the most boring hours I have spent playing games..... possibly ever. And I love my boring games.

Glad that others are seeing through the It Takes Two hype. Not only is it pretty badly written but I actually found the way it handles the concepts and subject matter to be pretty tactless and potentially harmful
