Black Flag - 7/10

Most of the main missions suck ass and it's the reason why I've knocked a point off. The rest of the game has a satisfying grind to it. I also loved the journey it takes you on, and some of the story points. The ending is so lovely in an understated way. Music is brilliant as well, still love all the shanties.

Devil May Cry 2 3/10 - What happened? I really should have done my research... This was dogshit save for a few minor moments. I'm amazed the series is still going after this, it's worse than 1 in every single way.

Got my third lockdown Platinum Trophy today on Until Dawn on the PS4. 8/10

Enjoyed the first play through, on which I had no idea which actions led to people living/dying, and actually saved everyone. That gave me a base to use chapter select to get missing trophies. By this point I was a bit fatigued with the game so looked up whether there was a point in my original playthrough at which I could start to kill everyone off (without starting from the first Chapter) and, luckily, there was. Then I proceeded to kill everyone off :)

I'm not sure why the designers made it such that no character can run when they're under your control (but can run like the clappers and fire guns with unerring accuracy when the game enters QTE sequences), as it helped to make all the searching for collectibles and backtracking/repeating the same chapters again and again to get trophies became something of a slog.

Titanfall 2 - 9/10

Saw this for a fiver and a few on here recommended on the single player alone. And they were totally right, an absolutely brilliant 5-6 hour campaign, full of some really great gameplay concepts (that time travel level is pure genius) and a really engaging, well written story. Loved the buddy element from the two protagonists and it rattled along without any fluff to it. I didn’t really want it to end but at the same time, I think they probably got it right. Great sound track to it too. Really added to it.

I should give the multiplayer a go but I’m pretty sure I’d suck at it. I was quite aware that the Normal difficulty was pretty forgiving especially with the very generous checkpoint system.

A good thing about the multiplayer is that it has bots in it too (of the obvious, different-to-players and mechanically significant kind) - so you can still shoot things lots even if you're not great at it

Interesting, I think I'll give it a go-I love the variation in gameplay in the single player.

Wonder Boy : The Dragon's Trap 8/10 I loved his you could effortlessly switch between the new visuals and music with the old. Dated in places, I'll never get on with invisible doors, but I had a great time with this.

The Return of the Obra Dinn - Utterly did my head in a few times but only because I failed to spot the clues. I wish there were more chapters. A brilliant and unique game.

Played through a couple of games off the gamepass:

ACA Metal Slug X - 8/10. Short, sweet, as fun as it ever was. Brought back good memories of the last time I played the game, stoned as strawberry float in an arcade in Amsterdam four or five years ago. Glad I picked it up.

The Gardens Between - 7/10. This would've scored way less if it weren't free though. It was good fun, a simple puzzle game that revolved around time travel and a reasonably bittersweet concept/story. Triggered me a little bit, which is rare for a game to do. Only lasted about two hours, hence why it would've scored lower if I'd had to pay for it. Would've liked to see it probably about double the length.

Darksiders 2:Deathinitive Edition-PS4- Wow, what a great strawberry floating game. It out Zeldas, Zelda at times, the combat is great, the loot is great. It's great. Soooo much better than the first which I do like apart from some old school design decisions. It's basically Prince of Persia traversal, with Diablo style loot, Zelda dungeons and God of War combat. It's the bastards bastard bastards love child of all of them. I really want to get stuck into 3 as my Dad who at nearly 71 is still a massive geek says it's really good(he finished it last week) proud son etc. but I need a change of pace.

Just in case you were unaware, you can double up on this if you have Game Pass Ultimate and a PC that can run it.

Thanks, I might get hold of it when I have a decent controller for my desktop. The 1.5m high score achievement was a bit of an irritant as well. :slol:

You know you can just use your Xbox One controller with a USB cable, right?

If you don't want to worry about wires you can pick up a USB dongle to connect the Bone controller wireless as well

Art Of Fighting 4/10 This SNK fighter did little for me. The idea of having huge screen filling characters probably seemed like a good way to stand out from the crowd back in 1992, but it didn't look right to me. And the two characters you could pick from were the usual Street Fighter knock offs. At least it gave us King.

Journey to the Savage Planet - 6/10

Poor man's Metroid Prime. I had a few issues with this. The combat never really meshed with me, player movement is slow, the pistol is slow and it's hard to avoid attacks. It starts to ask a bit too much of you near the end with the more complex attacks the later enemies do.

I felt that the platforming could have been a bit tighter, it's not like Metroid Prime where you have a good bit of maneuverability in the air.

Also didn't really like the tower section at the end. It felt long and pretty boring.

To say some positives about it, I liked the humour. The video skits in the base ship thing were interesting. The graphics looked really nice at times as well.
