Despite an abundance of abysmal tailing missions and the game being perhaps two chapters too long, this has still been one of my favourite games in the Yakuza series. Excellent combat, side quests and a great cast of characters. Sometimes though, I do wish Japanese games would learn to stop repeating themselves, that is to say, they use two cut scenes to provide information when one would do. In other words, the player already understands what is happening but the game is going to explain it all again anyway.

Edit - This song in the credits is awesome :msgreen:

Finished Season 1 of 3 out 10. It ends on a cliff hanger which sours me to the whole thing. The whole thing can be summed up as a bunch of mini games interspersed with sections where you walk around talking to NPC's in a style that's reminiscent of a point and click game. The actually writing is good but none of the games are that compulsive although you can knock through each episode in 30 minutes.

Human Resource Machine

Basic programming game, it actually gets surprisingly difficult although I managed to plow through the main game in two evenings. I think there's better choices on the market if you want a programming game. Exopunk is still the best one I've played.

Tony Hawk Downhill Jam
Rather enjoyable score chasing/ racing spin on the Hawk series, graphic art style is nice and gameplay is very addictive. But I'm not keen on the Downhill style of gameplay, some challenges are basic and the main game is very short.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 - 8/10

Great game and perhaps the strongest plot of the three Yakuzas I've played (0, 1K, 2K). Score would be higher if it didn't recycle quite so much. I realise that familiarity is part of the charm, but the side stories aren't quite so strong in this.

Killer Frequency

Yah, 45 minutes of fun. Pretty simple (I only saved one of the callers first time, but I retroactively worked out the solution to one of the others whilst trying to find the solution to the one I did save). Kinda disappointed that there wasn't a showdown (I've got my fingers crossed that there might be a '4th chapter' if you save all 3, it definitely implied that there would be one, with all the gooseberry fool that can be thrown around the room.)

Also, someone needs to tell the developer how big a key is coz holy gooseberry fool I got stuck for about five minutes trying to find 'the key' for the locked storage unit because I assumed it couldn't possibly be the strawberry floating TV-Sized thing on the table that looks like the thing they give celebrities when they're awarded the 'Keys to the City'.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Remastered - 7/10

Campy fun. Good voice acting and some decent set pieces. The game is pretty dark (lighting wise) and the linear path is absurdly linear. No incentive to really go after any collectables, but I still found 50% of them without trying.

A Short Hike - ****

I've seen a few people talking about this on here in the Switch thread and had heard about it on a Nintendo podcast recently, and I realised it was actually included in that itch.io bundle for racial justice and equality back in June. So no excuse not to play it really.

It's lovely. Really sweet little game, very gentle atmosphere and some quite funny character interactions. It ended a little bit soon for me, but I'm not sure I found everything hidden away on the island so I'll do another run through at some point.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Remastered - 8/10

A good videogame and a great sequel! Builds nicely on the first game with better gunplay and a slightly more dynamic plot/villain. Still campy Indiana Jones rip-off fun. Let down by frustrating climbing sequences and dull puzzles.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Remastered - 7.5/10

Sagged in the middle, but picked up in the end. Very, very derivative of the previous game, though it stepped up the set pieces. It's a pity they are all cut from the same template, so you know exactly what to expect. Nothing surprising or innovative here, just a well executed blockbuster.

Dishonored 2

This was really excellent. I adore the art style and the world and the gameplay is just so good at encouraging exploration. Some really amazing set pieces as well, particularly the time travel device in the mansion mission.

Okami HD

Loved so much about it, but still felt like a bit of a slog at times. I remember at the time people saying it was a better Zelda-like game than Twilight Princess, but can't say I agree with that. I only played Twilight Princess last year too.

Resident Evil 2 - 9.5/10

Finished off Claire's campaign yesterday. I never played the original, so there was no nostalgia kick for me, but I loved every minute of this. It's such a well constructed game. I prefer the vibe to RE7, with the with the OTT plot and camp, cheesy one liners. It looks and feels fantastic, I think the mechanics work really well and I appreciate how the game doesn't over power you with ammo meaning you have to consider you progress. The puzzling is never too difficult to stop progression and the pacing is perfect. My only complain I think is I would have liked the campaigns to have interacted a bit more cleverly and both worked as standalone stories that intertwined. Only a minor complaint though.

I haven't really looked at any of the extra content-is it any good and worth playing? How much is there?

Sniper Elite 3 Ult Edn- 7/10

Hard to say no for a fiver! It's not up to Hitman standards, but I had a lot of fun with this (testicle shot being my gaming moment of the year ). Though, it does become a bit repetitive and the bullet cam gets a little tiring. Also, the missions felt oddly placed; the latter ones seemed easier than what preceded and it wasn't all down to me getting better! Will pick up 4 in the future; I see it was peanuts in the last sale.

Paper Beast (PSVR)

A very beautiful, atmospheric light-puzzler. I’m not really sure what the story was about, but i enjoyed my time with it. Tracking went wonky several times, but it’s PSVR so no surprises there. Amazing 3D audio and lighting effects.

Ratchet and Clank PS4

Just a joy from start to finish and the combat was hugely satisfying. I'd like to give it another run through in "challenge mode" but I think I'm more likely to start playing Mad Max instead.

(Checks Jawa has not returned) - I would stick with Ratchet and Clank. Loved that game. A real PS+ gem.

I started Ratchet again and I'm so glad I did! Challenge mode with upgraded Omega weapons is insanely fun! :datass:
