I played it after it was all patched up, so I got the best experience with it - didn't see any of the launch bugs. I actually really enjoyed it, just as much as ME 1 and 2 tbh. Combat was great, really liked the exploring, etc.

It's decent, not amazing. But then I was always of the view that ME1 & 2 were decent but not great, so I don't really see Andromeda as being any worse overall. It's just a different type of game.

I played it several years after release. Is still think ME2 is one of the best games of that gen.

Never finished it. The performance of it sucked ass on XB1.

I made it over halfway through the main story, I was not particularly impressed by it. They had a new galaxy to do something new with. I kinda feel like it wasted the potential of that.

Got it 6 quid new, so no great loss.

Gris - 7.5/10

With light platforming and the occasional, slightly, tricky puzzle, the gaming elements aren't anything to overly write home about. However, as a gaming experience I thoroughly enjoyed it's short, but, wonderful journey. Its hard not to be swept up in the beautiful visuals and sounds; it really is a work of art. I wouldn't have paid full price for it, but, it's well worth picking up in a sale.

Telling Lies

I definitely enjoyed my time with this but it wasn't as satisfying as Her Story. There was a little too much bloat in this one and the "mystery" wasn't half as interesting. I'd definitely still recommend it though if you liked Her Story and I'm interested to see what the creator does next.

Was shocked when I realised the main actor was Shocker in Homecoming as he looked really different.

Maquette completed. If anyone wants a quick platinum than this is it. Be warned though, while I enjoyed the puzzles and game mechanics each level has a speed run and the game isn’t built for it. Be prepared to get frustrated a lot due to poor level builds and things not doing/falling as you expect them too.

Couldn’t give two strawberry floats about the story, it was all about the puzzles.

5/10

Having bought the Bioshock Collection in a recent eShop sale I've been playing through all the games again.

Bioshock 1 & 2 remain brilliant and both have different advantages over the other. 1 has the originality and a bit more exploration, part 2 has better combat and less time consuming hacking. Minerva's Den was a great piece of DLC too. I'd probably score all 9/10

Infinite remains somewhat of a disappointment personally. I appreciate the ambition but I just don't like the setting as much, the heavier focus on drawn out combat sequences or the increased linearity. Probably a 7/10 for me.

Buried at Sea was a good chunk of DLC. I preferred part 1 as I wasn't as keen on the stealth heavy focus of part 2. I'd give part 1 9/10, and part 2 8/10.

Great to return to the series after a number of years and it makes me excited about the prospect of a forthcoming sequel.

Little Nightmares 2 - 8/10

Pro: Fantastic story and visuals, gameplay is fun when it isn't janky or poorly taught

Con: Trial and error gameplay that trains the player to do one thing, then expects them to do the opposite a minute later.

There are so many scripted sequences where the game expects you to know exactly what to do, and if you take even half a second to get your bearings you just get killed. It really kills the flow of the game and takes the fear out of it.

I genuinely can't believe they didn't learn any game design lessons from the first game.

Sayonara Wild Hearts - 7.5/10

Less rhythmic than I was expecting; it feels closer to its classic arcade / on-rail shooter roots. Generally, I found it hard to sync / get into a groove with and a lot of the levels seemed to rely too much on memory. However, the visuals and music combine beautifully and its lots of fun blasting through the short stages, aiming for the high score.

The Legend of Zelda - 6/10

Feels weird to rate it so low, but by modern standards it's definitely one of the weaker LOZ games. It's still worth a play, but needs some patience to get used to. Ended up using a guide to deal with finding all the overworld stuff, but did the dungeons mostly on my own. One for the fans of the series at this point I feel, not good as an introduction anymore.

I don't think it's weird at all. The Zelda formula was perfected in the SNES game. The first two games are really dated, much like a lot of the stuff on the NES.

I honestly don't think Zelda 2 was even a good game to begin with.

By modern standards a 6/10 is generous. Other than through a lens of historic appreciation I've never enjoyed playing the original. I've actually given Zelda II more time and that's frustrating as hell to play.

I wouldn't say the Zelda formula was perfect in ALTTP either, if ever, because subsequent games have continued to make siginificant changes and refinements. But yeah, LOZ is before any of those and is archaic.

I never really put any time into the original LOZ until I played it on the NES mini a few years back and have to say I found it utterly fascinating to play! The freedom and almost total lack of any gooseberry fool getting in the way of the players adventure was incredibly refreshing. The biggest revelation from BotW for me personally was just how much it threw light onto how painfully average most Zelda games are at story, exposition and pacing - aside from a few notable outliers it has never been a strength of the series and anything that gives it as little focus as possible is on to a winner. Playing LOZ from that perspective just reinforced that position for me. The game has plenty of flaws and huge improvements have been made in terms of quality of life and core gameplay mechanics, but the sense of exploration and adventure in the game really is stronger than most other entries in the series

I find almost nothing rewarding in "bomb random wall" or "burn random bush" given the number of walls and bushes in the overworld, and that's 90% of what I remember doing. When it finally works I don't feel rewarded for figuring it out or a sense of discovery, just relief at the obtuse trial-and-error searching being over. Unfortunately for me that outweighs the freedom of exploration the game gives you. On the contrary BOTW is full of discovery that always follows some inspiration on playing with mechanics or some noticing of something looking out of place. If BOTW was following the LOZ handbook you'd be cutting down every tree in the game just in case the entrance to a divine beast was below one of them.

I finally finished the fan-translated The Great Ace Attorney the other day and for the most part, I liked it. It suffers from problems a lot of the other games in the series have, like a lot of boring dialogue and some annoying characters (which is pretty bad for a VN, but I think overall it makes up for it), but I'd say this is one of the better games.

I also think this fan localisation work is excellent. I have no idea how accurate it is, but the tone is consistent to the original Ace Attorney trilogy + Apollo Justice and it seems indistinguishable from a professional localisation effort - but I should say that if the game is ever officially translated I think the team handling it would do a lot of stuff differently. All I'll say is while the official Ace Attorney translations have deviated from the source material, this one seems more faithful in some obvious ways, but I also think they must have taken some liberties in order to make some sentences and jokes work better. Not gonna say I think it's necessarily a better approach, just different.

I almost didn't bother playing this one, because while it's headed by the original Ace Attorney creator who I'm a fan of, and who was responsible for the excellent Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright, it's also one of those stories I kind of hate. The kind of story where you play as the ancestor of the series regular main character...except they look and act exactly the same for some reason, and they do the same things. It makes more sense in some other stories, but these are lawyers. It's not like their lawyer powers are hereditary. Also, and I didn't know this until I played the game actually, but it also prominently features fricking Sherlock Holmes for some reason.

When I moved past the eye-rolling stuff though I found a lot to like about the game and I was enjoying the period setting. It has one of the more fun exploration phases in the series, because there are moments where you Sherlock makes a case that's inevitably wrong and you have to fix it by using evidence you find in the environment and the 3D graphics make a nice spectacle out of it. I like the expressiveness of the 2D sprites in the DS Ace Attorneys and I think the 3D models of this game and the other newer Ace Attorneys capture that well. The only style I don't really like is the drawn HD style of the Trilogy remaster.

The trials as always are pretty fun too, and these ones feature a jury and witness stands that can have several people testifying at once, the latter which was also a feature in PLvsPW (but can't for the life of me remember if juries were as well).

There have been rumours recently that this game and its sequel will finally be localised for Switch, so I guess that's how most people are going to play it. I'm gonna be interested to see how different it is.

I keep hoping these 2 games get a Switch localisation sooner rather than later. I'm not that confident mind.

My friend has just started playing Trials and Tribulations  . I'm thinking it might be time for me to fire the 3DS up and play the original trilogy again. I have never even opened them on the 3DS since buying them about 3 years ago.

Downloaded and finished Daytona USA in about 25 minutes last night. It was...certainly a game that exists.

Titanfall 2 - Played through the single player again on XBox purely to tick the 50 rewards points per day for an achievement. Completed it years ago on PS4 and loved it then. Still absolutely love it now. It's probably the best single player FPS content I've played since COD4:MW. The story is utter bobbins but the gameplay flow, change ups and traversal are all top notch. Not sure I want to get sucked back in to the multiplayer so will probably move on to something else.

I played it for the first time about 4 months ago. What a campaign. I wish i had played through it on hard now as its really short. If it remains on the service i may well go back in a year of so for another playthrough.

Just to be clear I wasn't intending to suggest I found the game to be actually a great experience to play! But in its looseness of structure and willingness to "leave the player to it" there was definitely the kernel of something I genuinely appreciated there
