You can do this with apple's own app Newstand I believe. I think I added them by putting them on dropbox and then opening them in Newstand.

Edit: this was renamed "News" in IOS9. Or maybe it's eBooks. if/or

You can also do it using iCloud. Put the PDFs/ePub on iCloud, enable that on your Ipad for backup etc and then when you open the file on iPad it should add it to News or whatever it's called now (or iBooks). There's a few suggestions here: https://softorino.com/waltr/other/trans ... ing_iBooks

But personally I use Dropbox because strawberry float having a device manufacturer/OS-specific vendor for that stuff, it works with everything and you can read the same PDF on anything else.

And I think you can do it with iTunes, even on Windows (I vaguely remember doing that before). You have to connect the iPad via USB, then it shows up in Itunes with a "Books" section even though there isn't one in normal iTunes use for some reason (because it's for MP3s and not syncing loads of other gooseberry fool like apps, remember when you had to use ITunes to put apps on an iPhone? Yeah, I guess they realised that was strawberry floating stupid but the functionality is still there.)

  1. Open iTunes & plug in your iOS device.
  2. Then check “Manually sync files to iPhone iPad” in your iPhone iPad’s tab.*
  3. Locate ePUB or PDF file that you want to transfer to your device.
  4. Drag the ebook from your computer to iPhone iPad in the left sidebar of iTunes
  5. Go into iBooks.app and select your ebook.

* I think they mean when you connect the iPad click on the parent of that tree menu thing on the left and there's a checkbox for automatically or manually syncing all your gooseberry fool

I only have an iPad so I've definitely done this before it's just weirdly obtuse.

I think the stock Books app lets you do this.

I use acrobat. Cross platform with android and has cloud storage now. Granted only using it for a few work related reference books so not sure what the storage tops out at but meh it works.

I think that's Acrobat DC which is part of Creative Cloud or paid for separately. You just get Adobe Reader for free so no cloud storage or editing anything. It's a good PDF reader though because it's pretty much guaranteed to display everything right, and just store stuff on Dropbox or whatever. I never saw the need for another reader on Android.

Dropdox does however display a preview of most kinds of files including PDF now so that's another way to do it without needing another app or some shitty bloaty/adware thing.

Ah, I must be thinking of the old (seperate) Adobe Reader App.

Acrobat DC is indeed free to download with 2GB of storage. Maybe it doesn't include stuff like Adobe Sign for digital signatures (or you can only sign them but not send docs for signature).

Edit: Jesus, Adobe love to be confusing. They've gone and dropped the "Adobe Acrobat DC" version and gone back to plain old Reader, which does all this stuff: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... obe.reader

I guess when you "subscribe to Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, Adobe PDF Pack, or Adobe Export PDF" it morphs into what used to be a separate app for the full editing and "send for review/signature" capabilities
:?

I used to use all these apps on Android as I subscribe to Creative Cloud: not only where they not consistent with what was available on iOS, they kept dropping support for certain apps, renaming them, and merging apps together. It was really strawberry floating annoying as I never knew it was worth getting familiar with any of their mobile stuff as it would just disappear or become part of something else.
