And yet it was a simple typo, because what I of course meant to say was Chu Chu Rocket. An awesome game. First online game I really played.

It's so easy to mistype Nights into Dreams when you're trying to put Chu Chu Rocket in.

You've also completely misspelt Jet Set Radio as "Shenmue 2"

Chu chu rocket

I can't remember why, but Sega just sent it out to everyone for free. It just turned up at my house one day, had no idea what it was, then I played the hell out of it with my friends.

EVERYBODY MOVE!

Not going to lie, I was triggered by the lack of Majora's Mask too.

I hate to break it to you fellows, but I don't think Firewatch revolves around a watch either, and the second in Bravely Second is... you know. Number two of something. Sorry to have disappointed you.

Five best genuinely time-focussed games... I think I'd struggle. I haven't played Braid or Outer Wilds (YET), and I didn't love Majora. Oh, and A Hat in Time has very little in the way of actual time mechanics. Ocarina of Time would, spoiling the joke, genuinely qualify.

Nice! Made up for that flagrant irreverence concerning time-based games.

I've just whizzed through some old Knytt music and it's quite the nostalgia hit!:

I couldn't get the Timestamp Youtube link to work but 19:36 is great! As is the 'chinese'-y one (as I searched for on Youtube...) near the end.

Top 5 Games With An Actual Time Based Mechanic

1. Majora's Mask
2. Deathloop
3. Dishonored 2 (it's only one level? so what it's great!)
4. Titanfall 2 (see above)
5. I don't know, Dead Rising probably.

If you're including games with one level, Skyward Sword deserves a spot for its Lanayru Mining Facility dungeon.

I've still not finished the game ( :fp: ) so want to withhold judgement in case they expand on it at a later point (sounds like they don't though) - but for me it doesn't quite do enough with the idea. I wanted to see it explored further.

The series dabbles in time stuff quite a lot overall and I didn't want it to just become a Zelda list otherwise I could have put a couple more in!

You could narrow it down and do a top 5 of just time loops probably. So Majora's Mask counts, Ocarina of Time doesn't. That's probably more interesting too.

The best general time based mechanic in any game is the "wait a week in real life" method of killing The End in MGS3...

The worst is waiting for Redd to visit in Animal Crossing
