Luckily the shooty section is reasonably short, otherwise I'd have been a bit disappointed with it going from adventure/puzzler to tps. What comes after that section is ridiculous :slol:

Also the shooting bit gave us this, so I'll allow it:

I still don't understand what happened there

The gameplay genre changes every 5 minutes, it's not like being a TPS was a sudden shift from an otherwise singularly focused game.

I noticed the complete trine collection on switch is something like £8. It includes 4 games, just need to check if I've played 3 or not before buying

Has anyone played a Trine game in single-player, disliked it, then tried it in co-op and had a better time? I got Trine 3 on the Wii U and really really didn’t like it; but I’m wondering if it might be better suited to multiplayer.

Yes I played some of the first and didn't think much of it, then played it with my wife and really enjoyed it (context).

That bundle is £12 on switch, and £9 on pc via cdkeys, so ill get it on pc and we'll play on the tv with steamlink.

OrangeRKN wrote:The ending of A Way Out is fantastic, nothing generic about it at all! It's a great game but it does assume familiarity with third person action game controls. Brothers is easier from that perspective and more puzzle focused. Minecraft Dungeons is another good shout.

I think the end of A Way Out is such a jarring experience compared with the rest of it, infinite spawning enemies and clunky controls. It's so out of place...

The whole game has clunky controls and this is my defence :P

The greatest co-op adventure game of all-time is Secret of Mana on the SNES which you :capnscotty: can pick up as part of the Mana Collection on the Switch.

The story is easy to follow but the combat is rich and varied with a good selection of weapons. It gets pretty challenging in parts too.

We tried this on the snes classic and she found it way to difficult, was pretty much just dying all the time and being dragged around as a ghost. She'd probably enjoy an easier one like secret of evermore (I love that game) so we may give that a try at some point.

We got to the end of the Room 3 last night. It's got multiple endings this one, so we've really enjoyed trying to work out how to unlock them together. The 4th and final ending is proving elusive.

Picked up Manifold Garden yesterday on the PS4. It's a first person puzzle game where you can change gravity and navigate an escher like environment. It made me feel pretty queasy for an hour or so, but I eventually got used to it. Some of the puzzles got tough really quickly. We're playing this together.

We finished this last night. Initially it was mind bending and seemed like a huge game, but after you get used to it, the puzzles are pretty easy. Was a good one to play together though. I'd reccomend it, but sub £10. It's a gorgeous game though.

That’s what I read (about the puzzles) and why I stayed away. Doing a co-op playthrough of Spiritfarer instead. That way if I start crying I won’t be on my own.

The big exciting local co-op thing on the horizon is the new Hyrule Warriors. Sadly my player 2 is proving slightly reluctant. :(

Maybe give Degrees of Separation a try, it's a decent co-op puzzle platformer. There are two characters, one hot and one cold and you use them to manipulate the environment to solve puzzles. I got it very cheap in a PSN sale recently.

This is where I embarrass myself: she hasn’t played BotW and based on what I know probably wouldn’t like BotW. I’ve made a terrible mistake. :fp:

Well now the reluctance makes sense

Not liking BOTW though. That's an illegal opinion :capnscotty:

Don’t I chuffing know it. :dread: I wouldn’t normally be a fan of Warriors games either, but reckon it might be good fun in co-op! Cat Quest 2 was basically hack-and-slash.

I'm sure she'd enjoy playing the game once it gets going. Probably more worry on her part that she's not going to be good enough and spoil the fun (context all that pls)

If you're both fans of puzzles, maybe the Portal 2 Coop campaign would be worth a try? Played through it with my partner recently and even with him not a big fan of puzzle games we both had a lot of fun.

We tried this back when it came out on the ps3 and she just couldn't understand it and got really stressed out. Now we've played a similar game with manifold garden, it might be worth trying again. See if the pc version has split screen because I have that and can stream it to the TV.

Edit: It does! Excellent suggestion :toot:

I might try to get her in to Mario with the 3d all stars collection. Mario 64 eases you in nicely (context) with the castle grounds and no real danger of death.
