PostRecommend a game - looking for a good co-op local multiplayer adventure!
by Victor Mildew » Sun Sep 06, 2020 2:00 pm

My wife and I love playing a good co-operative games.

We've really enjoyed:

Most of the Lego games (the LOTR one in particular).
Lara croft and the temple of osiris
The witness/baba is you/the room (not co-op games but good to go througn together)
Rayman legens/DKCTF (although I have to help a fair bit).
Gauntlet legends

We're looking for something that is pretty simple to play (she's not great with complex action stuff). Something free roaming like Skyrim would be amazing (but unlikely to find I imagine).

We have:

Switch, ps4, pc.

Thanks!

How about unravel 2? That’s a good co-op game in the same vein as Rayman and DKC

Also, I highly recommend Heave Ho on Switch, I play that with my gf and it’s hilarious trying to work together on it

Cat Quest 2 is the big co-op adventure that The Lady and I have enjoyed. It’s not hard, but it’s a fun light hack-and-slash with enough variety to keep you interested and a slew of bad puns.

Otherwise I’ll be keeping an eye on this thread. Ever since we finished Cat Quest 2 and Overcooked 2 we’ve been lacking a co-op game to dig into ourselves. I’ve found Unravel 2 a bit lacking.

POST-MILNER EDIT: :slol:

Some good suggestions there thanks. I'll be staying away from overcooked 2 after nearly getting a divorce playing the first one.

Untitled Goose Game is getting co-op in a couple of weeks.

Moving Out is a simple but fun game. Plays perfectly well solo, but would be more fun in co-op, and doesn’t have the stress factor of Overcooked.

The Trine series should also be very good in co-op.

It's an oldie, but Diablo 3 was great in local co-op, if you liked the Gauntlet games that's a good option.

Trine is a good one, we've played the first two together and enjoyed that. She won't be interested in streets of rage.

Surely you should be playing Overcooked 2 to to remind the misus of her duties in the kitchen :shifty: .

Seriously though Wastelands 3 has a co-op mode

Luigi's Mansion 3 could be a good shout - very charming and whoever is playing as Gooigi can't die.

We have that but haven't tried the multiplayer yet.

They're on the wishlist for when a sale pops up.

We spent the evening playing Lego marvel superheroes on the pc. We've done about 8 levels so far, it's pretty good.

I've just read that a way out is a great coop game. Just need it to drop in price a bit and we'll try that out.

A Way Out is great fun. I picked it up for about £15 in the sales a while back.

If you play puzzle games together, have you seen any of the Room games? There's a whole bunch on the PC and one on the Switch where you solve a string of puzzles to open a box, only to find another smaller, more complicated puzzle box inside.

They were on sale the other day. Grum bought Picross S3.

We have and are near the end of the third one. They're a bit easy, but good to play together.

And bollocks to missing the picross sale. I don't know Why Nintendo don't send an alert email when something is on your wishlist like steam does.

+1 for Unravel 2 which is a wonderful little co-op game-my brother and I played through it recently, well worth a go.

The last part of that game nearly (it doesn't) but nearly ruins the entire experience. Whats starts as a genuinly interesting concept devolves into a generic shooter.

Two Brothers is a very good co-op game but also, Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons are excellent for couch co-op.

I believe Man of Medan is couch co-op also.

The ending of A Way Out is fantastic, nothing generic about it at all! It's a great game but it does assume familiarity with third person action game controls. Brothers is easier from that perspective and more puzzle focused. Minecraft Dungeons is another good shout.

Have you played Lego City Undercover? It's a bit different to the normal Lego games, but still very familiar - and very good.
