I went with Ori and the Blind Forest from the suggestions here as it was already available to me. Played a bunch over Christmas but it never quite clicked with me which is a shame, it's bloody gorgeous to look at and was certainly a polished experience, but it was just lacking something.

Going to give Bloodstained a bash next I think, hoping that gets its claws into me a bit deeper!

Oh, it will. On my second play through, I spent hours just searching for ingredients to cook the stat boosting meals. It's an immensely satisfying castle to explore.

You should play Super Metroid again.

Then play it again because it's strawberry floating amazing.

Then start playing randomised versions of it.

Then start playing versions of it mixed with A Link To The Past and randomised.

I strawberry floating love Super Metroid.

I finished this over Christmas for the first time. Not sure I would have made it through the grapple beam sections without the rewind function on the Switch. Overall I the it was great, just a few things that haven't aged very well.

Yeah coming to Super Metroid late kind of reduced the experience for me - I didn't play it properly until after I'd played several later Metroid games like Fusion and Prime and as a result I wasn't as blown away by it as I otherwise might have been.

Still a very good game, but in all honesty not one that I have a particularly strong affinity for and therefore I'm unlikely to go back to it.

I think I played Super Merlteoid properly after Fusion and Prime. Super is my favourite Metroid.

I actually did a run through of vanilla Super Metroid today (Not randomised) and I've got my time down to around 2hrs 15minutes (1hr 36m in-game) which was extremely cool.

Having checked the rankings at speedrun.com it puts me around 881st in the world.

EDIT: Sub 2hrs is my next target.

EDIT-EDIT: Just checked my last runthrough of Super Metroid and this one is almost an hour faster. All that Randomiser practice has paid off. :datass:

Not sure if there's a better thread for this, but I'm going to start Bloodstained Ritual of the Night this evening. Any tips or things to avoid for the early game that I'd benefit from knowing before going in?
