I need a reliable and compact printer that does black A4, double-sided printing with easy to source cartridges. Ideally looking to stay under £150.

The internet is fully of conflicting advice. Any recommendations would be very gratefully received.

Do you definitely need a printer? Whenever someone says they need a printer my advice is juat to go to the local print shop every time you need something printing.

Found myself being quoted £50 for the printing work I needed this week, so yes, given I'll be working from home for the forseeable and my secondary income as a novelist relies on editing, I need one. But thanks for patronising!

I wasn't trying to be patronising, it's just that they're all gooseberry fool.

Being slight less obtuse...I went and pulled out the January issue of PC Pro from this year that had a printer showdown. They recommend the below:

Brother HL-L3270CDW - this is around your price point. They highlighted the high cost of ink as a concern.

Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C5290DW - this is above your price point but on paper and in their review is considerably better.

Screenshots are from Windows 7, their opinion is void.

Errkal, stop being patronising. People can have security vulnerabilities if they want.

People can, a magazine called "PC Pro" should not.
