It's incredible. Go in to a general store in Valentine and just look at the detail. In fact, go in any building and soak it in, you can practically taste the air.

So this continues to be amazing. Currently doing some bounty hunting but struggling as I keep getting distracted by hunting and just... Being in the world.

Though I did find an old house with a load of dead people in it. Suddenly...boom strawberry floating UFO. Did not expect that!

Oh wow! Yeah, just next to the tree at the end of the treasure map during the first set of Strauss' baliff missions there's a house. Inside is a priestess next to an inspectible letter with a load of Scientology-esque stuff and a load of skeletons. Suddenly the whole house is bathed in a green light so I ran outside, switched to first person and there's a saucer above the house that scoots away when you look at it

It's just so out of place! But it was a nice little surprise

EDIT: Ah strawberry float, just lost my first horse. RIP Nathan (Stallion), you were a good boy.

EDIT2: First big bug: the party for Shaun's return bugged out and took place as soon as I woke up so everyone was drunk and partying at 6am. Robbed it of some of it's atmosphere I think. All the dialogue kept referring to it as an 'evening' too. Oh well!

That's a shame. Those camp gatherings are so well done. I just sat by people chatting and singing and it al felt so organic.

I haven't seen that. :o

I did find a house that got a meteor strike.

Also I think this is very random:I entered a house and got the biggest fright as a bear was in it. I ran for miles until the bastard got me. :slol:

And there's the KKK.

And Aberdeenshire Pig Farm.

Also this is the most funny death I've seen.

Skip to 3:13.

Regarding Strange Sightings

The UFO is suppose to be tied into one of the side missions (the bloke who's a baby with the weird signs) and allegedly, the vanishing of the infamous Gavin

I take it no one plays online, it's actually pretty good now, finally.

So something just occurred, and I think it may have been one of the most incredible moments I've ever seen in a videogame. And it was tiny.

I was at camp, upgrading things in the ledger. I could hear a conversation going on behind me, but I continued browsing. By the time I'd finished my gooseberry fool the convo was still going so I went over and joined Hosea and Abigail by the fire. They natter on and suddenly Pearson, who was sat down on the poker table previously, wanders over to pat Hosea on the back after he started coughing. I've absolutely no idea if this was a scripted part of the conversation. Hosea and Abigail start to wrap up when suddenly...Hosea turn to Arthur and the three of them continue chatting away without missing a beat.

It strawberry floating blew my mind. The conversation was, I thought, a set-piece that R* had plopped into the camp and ordered to fire off at random while the player was there. But no. First there was the Pearson interjection, then the two characters both acknowledged Arthur's presence and drew him in, completely naturally.

This is the closest I've ever seen a game come to simulating real people. Consider me absolutely floored.

Rockstar really do put a lot of work into building a realistic and believable world, and they're very keen on details. Nobody can match them for it.

Played a load more of this, and I've some thoughts.

The world remains unbelievably immersive and detailed. I've just gotten to the second camp and the whole game feels subtly different. Even the local town going from mud to dust made a difference.

BUT...the game the world supports is incredibly restrictive, and some elements are straight up broken. Like the Wanted system. Countless times I've been set upon by bandits, shot them down and then been accused of a crime and had a hefty bounty levvied on my head. Or I accidentally aim my gun at a dude while trying to reply and aggroed him and been accused of a crime. Or actually committing a crime with my mask on and yes, got a bounty on my head. The rules to being recognised or not are vague and unexplained.

(still loving it though)

Quick question: how many Legendary animals are there? I don't mean in total, I mean of each species? I assumed there was just one but I killed a Legendary Buck, found the trapper and it seems some of his creations requires multiple legendary pelts. But the icon on the map for the buck has been crossed off...

What give?

There are several different legendary beast littering around the map. I think I got a map from a side quest that put them on the main map. I know I did get one for the legendary fish.

The crosses out mean you have killed that beast already. Don’t know if they respawned though but my guess is nope.

It's amazing for things like this. If you just sit back and watch what's going on, there are some incredibly realistic and very human interactions going on. People will say things in the background, Arthur will hear it and remark on it, with very little repetition going on. Its just so amazingly well realised.

Then there's the other side, where it being a game with limits comes through. Like you've said, the way the wanted thing works is strange. I was in a town, decided to rob a shop, so I put a disguise on and changed clothes out of town, snuck in (as people will notice you in a clear robbery getup) without being seen, robbed the shop in a very realistic manner (it was so well done), then hog tied the owner out of sight in a back room while I looted the place. Nobody had seen me, I made no noise, fired no guns. Yet out of nowhere the entire town got alerted and started shooting on the building.

Best moment I saw was a beggar claiming he was
Blind and asking for money. I paid him and waited over the road. Saw the lying sod get up and walk toward the nearest saloon.

Love it when apolitical video games reinforce the stereotype that homeless people are just scroungers for a cheap joke. Very normal and healthy.

So er, the game was working perfectly for me on PC and then yesterday's big patch hit. Now it won't run for more than 5 minutes before hard crashing not just the game but my entire PC. The monitors switch off and even the RGB lights on my keyboard go off. Every other game works fine.

Nice.

I saw two members of a hillbilly gang looting a campsite and they made at least 2 incredibly poorly judged jokes about sodomy.

I detest the Rockstar/Houser's idea of humour, ie slapstick buffonery with swearing/violence and token satirical elements that never work, but it's kept to the barest of bare minimums here, thank strawberry float. The main story is almost completely free from it, and the only places it pops up are random encounters or Stranger quests.

EDIT: Yup, the new patch has rendered it completely unplayable with hard crashes after 2 minutes of gameplay every time. Apparently the patch also lowers framerates in general and a shitload of people are getting the crashing error. I'm away home tomorrow so hopefully they'll have fixed it by then.

EDIT: When I do get the game to run, there's now a weird black ghosting around everything whenever the camera moves. It's so distracting as to be game breaking as everything looks strawberry floating cell shaded whenever I move.
