Started this a couple of days ago, and have now reached Valentine.

The graphics are lovely, the world is full of detail, there's loads of interesting things to see, the story's decent, but the controls are downright bloody awful.

The equip system wheel and general menu system is so unintuitive, just doing simple tasks takes an age. Winning a punch up can involve sheer dumb luck because of the sluggishness, and don't even get me started on the moment i went to speak to a character, and ended up shooting him dead because i'd pressed the wrong button.

Perhaps it's because i've just dove into it after 120 hours of the brilliant AC: Odyssey, but this game is going to have to get a lot better soon as otherwise it may end up being traded in for the next Far Cry.

Your Arthur looks like one of the Order 1888 trying to start afresh.

My Arthur looks a bit similar to Clint Eastwood in the Dollars Trilogy.

I played some more last night, it’s so sombre with Dutch and the gangs. :o

Really been taking my time with this. Only just started Chapter 3 last night.

Gutted we shot up Valentine and had to leave our camp behind. I got really attached to that place!
Still, at least I can fish from the new place.

Also, I've lost all the Legendary Gunslinger missions - are they timed?
I did Black Belle, then farted around doing stuff, hunting/fishing etc and they've all vanished and I can't find the clues to their locations again. :(
I nearly lost the 3rd Wildlife photographer mission, I had to re-load an old save and race to it before it disappeared.

I'll make an effort to do the White side missions when I see them.

I don't think there's any stranger missions that you can lose bar one in chapter six.

If they go away from your map it probably just means that it's a time sensitive stranger who only appears at certain times of the day.

Also, the Gunslinger missions can be done any time. You have their photographs in your satchel with their information.

THAT's what I was looking for! I could've sworn it was a map, or a note.
I'll find them this evening then. :)

Managed to get an hour on this last night before bed, still in Chapter 3 at about 40% complete. The emergent gameplay is just fantastic, came across a gang of Lemoyne Raiders robbing a train outside of Rhodes - swift cowboy justice ensued :datass: Lost some honour for looting the corpses of their victims which was a nice touch, but I needs dem coins.

It's just such a beautiful world to explore and soak up, so often I'm just riding along on my trusty horse enjoying the views, frequently forget where I'm headed or what I was meant to be doing

I encountered that last night as well. Except I got killed...
But when I tackled them I got a wanted level for disturbing the peace! I was trying to restore the peace!

All fall before my mighty shotgun :datass:

I might have killed a couple of eye-witnesses that may have been trying to "escape", but we don't have to tell The Law about that :shifty:

I'm still unsettled on weapons.
I've got two of the good revolvers (haven't tried the volcano pistol yet..?) upgraded and that. Ones black, and ones silver, looks well cool like 8-)

But I don't get good results with any weapon most of the time. Though I got a good repeater I got from Micah and the carriage we robbed together. Do well with that from a distance, but not against lots of enemies.

My Deadeye runs out so fast - whats the best way to make it bigger :(

Tried adjusting the camera today, forgot which button it was and instead ended up blasting a passer by with a shotgun, then had to leg it as the law were on their way.

Bugger.

Dead Eye targeting levels up automatically as you progress through the main storyline, so it doesn’t require much extra effort on your part.

Level 1: This is start of Dead Eye, which you earn during Chapter 1‘s Old Friends mission. It allows you to slow down time and drag the red X target across an enemy. It auto targets the enemy for you and can be frustrating, as it doesn’t offer the precision you want. Be quick with your aiming though, and you can tag multiple enemies.

Level 2: This is where Dead Eye gets really useful. You can now manually tag a shot on an enemy by tapping the right bumper (R1/RB). Tag multiple enemies or just one unfortunate guy with six shots from your revolver and pull the trigger for spectacular results. This unlocks during Chapter 2 and the Pouring Forth Oil mission.

Level 3: This seems like an incremental upgrade but is more useful than it sounds. You can now stay in Dead Eye mode after you’ve fired shots, allowing you to pick off another target you may have missed, or just tag another bullet on an enemy as they go down. Unlocks during Banking, the Old American Art in Chapter 4.

Level 4: You’ll need to reach Chapter 5‘s Fleeting Joy mission to unlock this level of Dead Eye, but you can now see the highlighted head and hearts of enemies. Hit these and you’ll perform one-shot kills. This is when Dead Eye becomes really useful for hunting animals as it allows you to get a clean kill and harvest the best pelts.

Level 5: As well as the head and heart you can now target lungs and stomach, specifically. You’ll be getting a lot more one-shot kills and they become a lot easier.
