I'm really looking forward to this as the last series was actually pretty good.
I wonder if they're going to be making more Dwarf given the recent adverts using the crew as they seem to have a higher profile now than for the last decade.

Looking good, hoping though that if this does end up as the last one they make, then they will give the characters a good ending and not kill them off (like a lot of comedy shows used to do).

Also, if it ends up like another Only The Good, then i will be really annoyed.

There's a poster out for it as well:

I'll definitely be watching this when it goes out, we'll probably all be in lockdown by that point any way so there won't be much else to do!

The last few series have been okay in a "great to see an old band back together" kind of way but they've rarely even threatened to come close to the quality of the early stuff. Get the feeling this is going to go down the "comedy/drama" route that Doug Naylor has toyed with a few times since Series 7 - all thought there have been some great moments that touch on that side of things over the years that's never really been the strength of the show so we'll have to see how it pans out

I enjoyed the last series (to my surprise), and have reread some of the books again recently. So yeah, excited for this.

I think the Dave series have been solid enough, there are some good laughs in there and the format and structure of the episodes is much better and more in line with "Classic Dwarf" than what we had in series 7/8 and the weirdness that was Back to Earth.

I'm definitely excited to watch this, but I'm going in with measured expectations on quality!

The Dave series have been ok. Nothing to trouble the nest of Dwarf, but certainly not the worst episodes ever.

Yeah they've spoken about him in some of the press release stuff.

He's another member of the Cat race that left Red Dwarf during the 3 million years Lister was in stasis. The cat race is basically the focus of this special as far as we know - hence the title "The Promised Land" which is what Cat talks about a few times in series 1. Lister being the God of the cats and their religion and promised land being based around his plans to go and live on Fiji,

I see. Cheers. I just hope they don't go down the same no-canned laughter route they did before. That was a piece of gooseberry fool.

Judging by the trailer, it looks like a twelve change of underwear trip.

I never fully watched series 10 even though I thought what I saw was fairly good but strawberry float it. Let's rank the series:

II
I
VI
III
V
IV
X
VIII
VII

Series II as the top dog? A bold choice but one that I admire! 8-)

I really like series II, Thanks for the Memory is a brilliant piece of television.

My ranking is probably as follows:

V
VI
II
III
IV
I
X
XII
XI
VIII
VII

Realistically those top 6 are in a very tight cluster together. The Dave trio are some way behind but pretty close to one another. VIII and VII are comfortably the worst.

I didn't bother putting BtE on my list - fairly confident that most people can just assume it is at the bottom!
