I should have used a better description than "hype"; I meant that there were high levels of expectation from Xbox fans rather than hype from Microsoft itself. This is one of the big new Xbox exclusives and I think folk were hoping for a blockbuster rather than an average title.

Yes, I do like to look at the positive side of things! I know that some folk don't like this; and if we're sharing opinions on others then, hey, I tend to think that you are critically negative a lot of the time, so hopefully we balance each other out.

After the reviews I'm really interested to play this and see what sort of game it actually is. Game pass is fantastic for trying games that are not for everyone without having to be out of pocket.

Very true. I am currently playing through Ghostwire Tokyo and having a blast. That game was given a short shrift by critics too. My theory there is that game critics are beyond sick of open world games. Which makes sense if I had to play a new one each month I would hate that design formula as well. But I play maybe two of them a year so I don't get fatigued of the collectathons.

Kaz hates Arkane games like site hates indie games, it's all part of the act.

Interested to see how much of the poor reception to this is down to performance issues and bugs that will be patched, how much is down to expectations of a specific kind of immersive sim from Arkane and this not being that, and how much is down to how it is as the thing it is.

Personally I have zero interest in this game as a multiplayer title and want to know how it matches up in singleplayer against previous Arkane titles.

Mr Matty Plays who has an Xbox centric Youtube channel and is also a Bethesda/Arkane fanboy said "this game should have never been made" OOF!

It is very strange, asking Arkane to make a looter shooter. It would be like asking EA Sports to make an immersive sim.

Essentially, he says there's a decent game in there, but ultimately one with problems that isn't really worth the time investment, especially in single-player.

Some reviews rating if high, I’m hoping they were in PC so there’s room for improvement for console version to get to that level.

You know what? I don't like games by Arkane. They just aren't for me, so, if people who love arkane games hate this, then I may enjoy an Arkane game for once.... :slol:

Played about an hour and it’s ok? It’s not bad by any means at this early stage, it generally looks decent and so far has played ok too. Not a fan of any of the characters really though, gone for the one with the robot as a side kick.
