Ahh I see.

Sounds like you're going to hurt at least one of them. If you want to be with the current girlfriend then you need to cut ties with the other girl ASAP.

Well this has been an unbelievable weekend, a few weeks ago, a colleague had made it known she likes me, it helps that I’ve always thought about her in that way, but would never have thought anything would happen, but after the break up of my marriage we decided to have a date Friday as she was back in the area, we both drove so no drinking which was cool, so we had a nice evening walk, then we saw the time so ended up getting a KFC drive through and ate it together in a Tesco car park, we made out on and off for a few hours chatting like we’d been together for ages, we were there so long that they locked the gates locking us in the car park, we had to call the security company to come let us out, that was an incredibly awkward call to make!

Anyway she then stayed at mine from Saturday evening until today, she’s heading back to her parents (in Northern Ireland) where she’s staying whilst we’re not in the office as her parents need her to help them out whilst they aren’t able to get to things easily.

She’s honestly the nicest and most gorgeous woman I’ve ever met, we click in a way that I was not expecting.

I had a mate like this. In his case it was due to him deriving his self-worth via other people. E.g. If I can get hot girls to be attracted to me then I must be a worthy, attractive person.

It got really annoying after a while as I'd be looking forward to a night out or a party with him and he'd spend the whole time chatting up girls, flitting from one to the next trying to work out his best chance to score.

Anyway, a good life skill to develop in general is being better at enjoying having things, not just getting them. Eventually things you get become things you have, and then you have to get a new thing. I realise I am objectify ing human beings here, but I think the skills transfer.

In adittion, work on that self worth, hunty. You've said before you have a strawberry floated up depressed brain. It's trying it's best to keep you alive and happy but through no fault of its own it doesn't work right. You can't blame it for clinging onto the only activity which releases a bit of serotonin. It'll take a lot of hard work to correct this behaviour, but you need to do it from a place of self-love, not hate. Yes, you're acting like a bastard, but that doesn't make you one. Yes you need to face up and accept your actions, but that doesn't mean beating yourself up over the past etc etc.

This is a rambly post, so apologies for that. There's some advice in there which has helped me in the past - apologies if it's inappropriate for your sitch.

False, just to add that Mini really hit it on the head there with how I see your situation.

And Chris, that must be the happiest bit of news I've read in ages considering how things have been for you these last few months. Nice one.

Happy to see you've had a happy experience, Chris. If she's happy with a KFC on a first date, she's probably not going to rob you of every penny you have.

Yeah it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster, no idea when we’ll see each other again, but for now it’s a good start.

I’ve been isolated since moving out and not seen anyone for a long time bar the kids who are isolating. She’s been shielding this whole time too. It could be a mistake but then it might be the start of something. We’ve been friends for a while, but I had no idea she likes me that way until a few weeks ago when we were chatting and she just said “look I know things are a bit strange at the moment and the timing of this is off, but I’m not sure friends is what I want, I like you a lot and no idea if you would feel the same way so I’m putting it out there that I like you” we just went from there.

She’s a lot going on at the moment too, so it will be nice to take it slow and build something and then when some sort of normality returns we can really push on. We’ll see.
