I met my wife when we worked at the same place, so it went OK.

Same but not married.

Think I’ve posted this before, but I got off with someone from work a few jobs ago on a night out and then found out the next day she was getting married in 2 weeks. She avoided me completely after that until she was moved teams and I became her line manager. Then her husband got leukaemia and work asked me to have regular meetings with her to check in. Could not have been more awkward.

0/10 would not recommend.

Well

For the most part seems like people have been successful with it.

The person I work with is someone who I work with quite closely so I'm going to ask a mutual friend of they think it would be a good idea to ask her out.

Last thing I want is to make things awkward as things are going pretty well at work.

I've done it before, same as any other relationship really, except greater potential to make things awkward at work. All the women hated me in one job after I abruptly broke up with one of my colleagues.

In my defence, she'd instigated it by whipping her tits out in the club to show me her new boob job :slol:

You're supposed to get one of your mates to speak to one of her mates, for christ sake. Do it properly or not at all!

No but I literally work in the same team as her. I work with her 10 hours a day. I'd rather not make things awkward at it hugely negatively effect my work.

Not really as simple as "hurr durr you're not 14"

Yeah I think if you're unsure it's much safer to ask a friend.

Absolutely not. What’s the mate gonna say? 8 times out of 10 it’s going to be ‘I dunno...ask her yourself?’
Not to sound aggressive or anything, but come on. I get it’s the 21st century and all that but girls love a bit of ownership.

You don't need to ask her friend. Asking somewhere like here is fair enough, or some of your mates not from the workplace, but a mutual friend, they'll have a different brain to you and may be seeking their own comfort in the workplace.

If you're looking for a confidence booster, then you could maybe TELL the mutual friend you're going to do it. But even then you're just adding a middleman(woman).

The way I'm reading it he's not asking the friend if he should, but if he shouldn't. The friend will be able to let him know if the person is in a relationship, or if he isn't the person's type- for example.
