I didn't have a stag or do any speeches for my wedding, but then We had a very small group with us, so I just said thanks and we took each of them out for a meal in the days before and after.

I'm kind of staggered you were down for the whole marriage thing - you seem the sort to rally against every bit of it with every fibre of your being.

I'm even more amazed that someone would commit to spending their life with me

I was best man for a mate about 10 years ago, but I can't remember a thing about it; can't remember anything I said, whether I'd memorised the speech or used prompts, or anyone's reactions or comments.

If I get married, strawberry float doing a speech - can't be arsed at all.

Absolutely loved doing mine. Really went to town on it.

Same. Practiced enough so I learnt it off by heart and didn't need my notes, was great fun doing it.

I wrote my groom speech the night before the wedding and then did it without even needing my notes. Got lots of good comments afterwards saying how good it was too

I'd absolutely dread doing a best man speech though and I hope I'm never put in that position.

My best man speech was pretty good and well received. I even (unintentionally) started with Jeremy's templated intro (hey I needed some starting point).

I lost my place and went off script a few times (was using prompts which is put down to make sure I was looking at people around the room), and at one point I lost my place on my prompts page, it went quiet, it felt awkward and I started shaking and decided that was a perfectly appropriate time to make a Parkinson's joke

Yeah i didn't do any of that, no first dance either. We also specified no presents from anyone. I was best man for my mates wedding and did the speech no problem, i just don't like being the centre of attention and feel like its overly self indulgent. Luckily my wife is great and was supporting the idea before i even said anything.

My dad did that. He's not married now.

My brother's best man speech at my wedding was strong. Knowing that my wife is big into star signs and that she's a Taurus he named some famous people she shared the sign with - Adolf Hitler, Oliver Cromwell, Saddam Hussein...

It's your wedding, you don't have to do anything you don't want to.

The main point of the grooms speech is to thank people. Thank them in private individually instead.

in all seriousness tell her how you feel and see how she reacts. also ask her how she feels as well. it sounds simple but it isnt but you need to communicate how you feel and listen to how she feels, because her actions are coming from feelings and you need to know why/what shes feeling, not go off how those feelings are making her act.
