Temptation is strong to do a crude joke about "visiting her favourite place" ;)

Congrats, welcome to the marriage club! :toot: Just need to sort out the wedding which is always a super smooth, easy and care-free process

That's my plan, let her deal with the majority of it, make a decision on location based off a shortlist and get a suit.

Easy peasy 8-)

Vast majority of our wedding planning can be easy and straightforward, it only really gets stressful when the wider families get themselves involved in my experience.

"Oh no you can't invite Aunt May and Cousin Vinnie to the same event, not after what her John said to Vinnie at the last get together!"

"Your mum likes your idea of having a floral theme and of you walking down the aisle to your favourite song but she thought that a splatterhouse design might work better with some anarcho punk as the music instead so she's gone ahead and booked that for you"

"Don't worry about the food for the reception, Auntie Jackie's sister's brother's boy went to catering college for 2 weeks so he can sort that out!"

Just do what I did. Get engaged and then do nothing about it.

Been engaged nearly nine years now .
It's basically worthless

Don't think we'll have that issue, she's fallen out with her family already

Can't have family problems at your wedding if you wait for your whole family to die before getting married
*taps forehead*

We had a 2 day wedding, with a religious Hindu ceremony on the Friday and the “white wedding” (not my terminology ) on the Saturday. It worked well because my MIL only cared about the Friday and invited everyone she wanted (200+ people, before any of our guests :dread:) to that and wasn’t bothered about who was on the Saturday guest list.

I’ve always been of the view if you have a weekday wedding, you can’t expect people to take the day off but a fair old number of my Saturday guests made the effort to come on the Friday, I think out of curiosity. And I suspect they’ll have been happy because it was bonkers

I had expected to leave the planning all to my wife but I got surprisingly invested in the process. I mean, not on stuff like flowers but the music, the bar and the important stuff like that.

Congrats Benzin!

My lone piece of advice is do not allow anyone, no matter who it is, to shoehorn things into your wedding if you personally don't want it. That goes for guests, activities and basically anything else you can imagine. It's your day and not anyone else's, so have it exactly as you want it.

I organised my wedding but all it involved was a flight to Vegas and a quick trip to The Little White Wedding Chapel.

If you ask me now I can't really think of anything I organised for our wedding other than the Kilts for myself, dad, Best man and Brother in law.

Obviously we decided on the venue together as well as getting the celebrant. But I was lucky enough that my better half was very on the ball with getting things sorted and planned out.

There's one reason I married her.

I booked the holiday and thought strawberry float it. Quick trip to the council office and booked a translator when we got there. Easy mate.
