Come for the dogma, stay for the wine!

Some of the best threads on ONM were the RELIGION THREADS because of the lively debate they encouraged and the different viewpoints they brought to the table. Some were religious, others were not, some respected other beliefs, and others did not, some had definitive evidence that evolution was a conspiracy, others did not. But enough about the past, what are your current views on religion, both in terms of your own views personally and reflecting if you like on the state of the world at large at the present time.

Here's to a great 20 pages, folks.

This can only go well.

I'm an atheist. Think about 98% of people on here are too.

My imaginary sky friend is better than your imaginary sky friend. Let's war!

We're not exactly a religiously diverse bunch on here.

I'm an atheist living among God-fearing Americans. I am severely outnumbered by them. Send help.

I remember one of the old folk of ONM used to be a transhumanist of all things. I wonder if he's still around.

Jesus died for our bins. Refuse collection is no laughing matter.

With him it was more like we were all going to merge into a hive-mind and transcend our physical existence completely.

I, for one, don't believe that you can truly love anyone unless you first love the Lord, as he is the light and the way and the source of all true love.

I remember Super Andre (I think?) being... entertaining in these sorts of threads back on ONM

I grew up quite strict C of E. I wasn’t raised a churchgoer nor did I have religion forced upon me, I found it on my own. In fact nobody in my family was religious at all other than me. I went as far as being confirmed too around the age of 14 but not long after that it all seemed to stop making sense like it used to when I was a kid. Before long I grew disillusioned with it all.

I appreciate them for their awesome creation myths and cool monsters and stuff, but that's about it. I'm happy to accept that the stories are analogous to historical events and their attempts to understand them, but with a LOT of liberties taken. Otherwise I don't put any more weight on Christianity compared to something like ancient Norse.

I don't remember the renouncement, was it due to her lesbianism?
