Gillen hasn't been a games journalist since the early 2010s (he's a comic writer now) and the last of the original RPS staffers left in April. It's still a decent read but nowhere near the gold standard it used to be.

Kieron Gillen also suffers from the new problem that, despite all his many talents and positive attributes, he will never be able to beat Karen Gillan in my affections. He has been replaced in my internal K.G. love spot.

I've only checked out a couple of his Star Wars comics and wasn't massively impressed (ironically these were free offerings on Amazon Prime a while back ) but then I'm not really a comics or Star Wars person so I only checked them out on a whim and wasn't necessarily expecting to be bowled over!

Also I could have either KG any time I wanted. I hear Karen has a thing for big hands

1. The "is this a joke" comment wasn't about the strike action, it was about Knoyleo labelling anyone who used Amazon as a scab. Shaming people for something they shouldn't be ashamed of isn't something I'm mad keen on. Not everyone can afford the luxury of buying from more expensive or less-convenient retailers. I wouldn't criticise someone for shopping in Primark despite their iffy working practice. Life is hard and telling someone they're a bad person for trying to save some money isn't going to make it any easier.

3. The strikers aren't my comrades - they're just people. But just because I choose not to call them "my comrades" (because I'm not in the Soviet Union) that doesn't mean that I have no empathy or compassion towards them - I hope they get what they're after, and I'm sure they eventually will. But I'm not going to criticise or lambast anyone for still using Amazon, I don't think that's helpful.

People should absolutely be ashamed about crossing picket lines. Fight me.

Serious addendum: one of the many travesties of so much digital commerce is the way it has destroyed physical means of protest, by simply existing outside of the physical world. It means thousands of people will have found themselves crossing a picket without even realising, something that wouldn't be possible with a physical picket outside a bricks and mortar retailer. People who crossed this picket unknowingly don't need to be ashamed.

It was 90% agency staff (myself included) who didn't get paid if they were sick. Funnily enough, absence was pretty much unheard of.

Several people got sacked for trying to steal items, though. There were detectors everywhere and we would be searched around 3-4 times a shift, but still every other week someone would get pinched for trying to smuggle perfume out .
