BBC News wrote:Woman jailed in US for driving with Canadian licence

A Canadian woman is asking for an apology after US police arrested her and threw her in jail for driving with a Canadian licence.

Emily Nield, 27, was on a student visa when she was pulled over for speeding in Georgia on her birthday in April.

When she could not produce hard copies of her passport or birth certificate, she was handcuffed and taken to jail.

Charges were eventually dropped and her record cleared, but Ms Nield says she is still waiting for an apology.

After Ms Nield was pulled over for driving 87 mph (140 km/hr) in a 70 mph zone, the officer told her she could not drive with a Canadian licence.

"I tried to tell the officer this isn't right, my licence is legal, if she had just done a simple Google search, this would not have happened," she told the BBC on Monday.

According to the Georgia Department of Driver Services website, non-US citizens holding a valid foreign driver's licence are allowed to drive in the state of Georgia, but may be asked for proof that they are citizens of the country that issued it.

The highway she was driving on is frequented by many Canadians who vacation in Florida.

The officer did ask for proof that she was Canadian, and would not accept photographs of Ms Nield's immigration documents and passport. She was then arrested for driving without a licence.

"I was scared, I just kept thinking this (the arrest) is going to stay with me," she said. "It was the worst birthday of my life."

Ms Nield took a video of herself in the back of the officer's vehicle and posted it to Snapchat so her friends could arrange for a lawyer.

"I'm in cuffs. Help me! I don't want to go to jail," she says in tears.

She says she paid more than $778 (C$1000; £574) for bail and to retrieve her car from the impound. Three days later, the charges were dropped and her record has subsequently been cleared.

Ms Nield says she wants Canadians to know they do have rights driving in the US. She also says at the police station she was not allowed to contact the Canadian consulate, which she is legally allowed to do.

She also wants the officer to apologise for not knowing the law.

"I would love for her to reach out just say 'I'm sorry'," she says.

She shouldn't have been speeding obviously (substantially over the limit), but talk about complete incompetence from the Police. Basic stuff here.

Trump withdraws from deal

Trump: "It is clear to me that we cannot prevent an Iranian nuclear bomb under the decaying and rotten structure of the current agreement.

"The Iran deal is defective at its core. If we do nothing we know exactly what will happen."

He adds: "Therefore I am announcing today that the United States will withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal."

I think in his mind he’s employing the same strategy with Iran as North Korea.

Except this time he doesn’t have the Presidents of China and South Korea doing the hard work.

On or about October 17, 2016, Michael D. Cohen established a limited liability company named Essential Consultants, LLC (“Essential”) by filing the requisite paperwork with the Secretary of State in Delaware.

At all material times, Essential has been exclusively owned and controlled by Mr. Cohen.

In October 2016, less than one month before the 2016 Presidential Election, Mr. Cohen rstablished a new business account at a First Republic Bank branch (“First Republic”) located in Manhattan, New York City, New York.

On October 27, 2016 Mr. Cohen caused a wire of $130,000 from Essential Consultants’ account at First Republic Bank to be sent to an Attorney - Client Trust Account of Keith M. Davidson & Associates at City National Bank located in California. The wire originated from First Republic Bank’s operations located in California. Note: this fact may provide the State of California with jurisdiction over possible state criminal charges associated with this payment.

Mr. Cohen has previously claimed that the source of funds from the $130,000 payment was a home equity line of credit advance conducted on October 26, 2016. This has yet to be confirmed. However, as detailed below, within approximately 75 days of the payment to Ms. Clifford, Mr. Viktor Vekselberg, a Russian Oligarch with close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin, caused substantial funds to be deposited into the bank account from which Mr. Cohen made the payment. It appears that these funds may have replenished the account following the payment to Ms. Clifford.

From October 2016 through January 2018, Mr. Cohen used his First Republic account to engage in suspicious financial transactions totaling $4,425,033.46.

Chief among these suspicious financial transactions are approximately $500,000 in payments received from Mr. Viktor Vekselberg, a Russian Oligarch with an estimated net worth of nearly $13 Billion. Mr. Vekselberg and his cousin Mr. Andrew Intrater routed eight payments to Mr. Cohen through a company named Columbus Nova LLC (“Columbus”) beginning in January 2017 and continuing until at least August 2017.

Columbus Nova is a private equity firm founded in 2000 with over $2 billion in assets. Mr. Intrater is the CEO of Columbus Nova. Columbus Nova is the U.S. investment vehicle for Renova Group, a multi-national company controlled by Mr. Vekselberg. Renova group holds investments in various interests, including mining, oil, and telecommunications.

Mr. Cohen inexplicably accepted these payments while he was the personal attorney to the President and holding himself out at times as employed by the Trump Organization (with few other clients). This was occurring at the same time significant questions were being raised relating to (a) the involvement of Russia and Vladimir Putin in the 2016 Presidential Election and (b) the extent of the relationship between Mr. Putin and Mr. Trump.

Also included in these suspicious financial transactions are four payments in late 2017 and early 2018 totaling $399,920 made by global pharmaceutical giant Novartis directly to Essential in four separate transactions of $99,980 each (just below $100,000).

Following these payments, reports surfaced that Mr. Trump took a dinner meeting with the incoming CEO of Novartis before Mr. Trump’s speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland in late January 2018.

In addition, Essential received $200,000 in four separate payments of $50,000 in late 2017 and early 2018 from AT&T.

Essential also received a $150,000 payment in November 2017 from Korea Aerospace Industries LTD.

Not sure how it'll work now with the US pulling out but it was basically this:
Under the agreement, Iran agreed to eliminate its stockpile of medium-enriched uranium, cut its stockpile of low-enriched uranium by 98%, and reduce by about two-thirds the number of its gas centrifuges for 13 years. For the next 15 years, Iran will only enrich uranium up to 3.67%. Iran also agreed not to build any new heavy-water facilities for the same period of time. Uranium-enrichment activities will be limited to a single facility using first-generation centrifuges for 10 years. Other facilities will be converted to avoid proliferation risks. To monitor and verify Iran's compliance with the agreement, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will have regular access to all Iranian nuclear facilities. The agreement provides that in return for verifiably abiding by its commitments, Iran will receive relief from U.S., European Union, and United Nations Security Council nuclear-related economic sanctions.

Problem is the US are reintroducing economic sanctions against Iran which also affects the EU etc too...

I reckon Trump will attempt to do another deal at some point and try to pass it off as the greatest deal ever, much better than Obummer's terrible deal. Might not be successful with that though.
