No, Republicans don't like intelligent people. Ron Paul knows this, but he is trying to prove a point more than anything. He excells in the Republican debates and wiped the floor with McCain and Thompson last time round. He doesn't stand a chance though.

Last I heard Iowa was a 3 horse race between Romney, Paul and Santorum.

Wonder when we'll begin to see any results.

What's the differenve between a cacaus and a primary? I'm guessing a caucus is more of an opinion boll than a binding vote? also come on Ron Paul.

Romney's a flip-flopping slave to the Fox News demagogues, I hope he doesn't win.

Good. Ron Paul is probably worse than the rest of them:

The Cold War destroyed it.

If you ever accidentally think a Republican seems reasonable, you just aren't looking hard enough.

John McCain is a saint compared to the current crop of candidates, but he's still a banana split compared to the last batch of Democratic presidential nominees. Sarah Palin? She's a rotten one too.

Let's just say i've realised that Ron Paul may be a bit more 'out there' since I made this post in the summer.

7.30am update - Romney wins by 8 votes. Was a crazy night.

With 99% of votes in it's:-

Santorum 25% (29,968)
Romney 25% (29,964)
Paul 21%
Gingrich 13%
Perry 10%
Bachman 5%
Huntsman 1%

Perry goes back to Texas, looks like he's out.
Next up is New Hampshire on Tuesday.

Insane margin of victory when you think about it.

Most Republican candidates are such blatant assholes it's a wonder they even get into the race. A Republican presidential candidate who is reasonable and moderate is like golddust, which is wierd considering their overall party does not show the same kind of difference when comapred with Democrats. Something about Republican primaries must just attract complete bastards.

strawberry float that gooseberry fool.

I hope Ron Paul gets it, although that seems to be highly unlikely.

They also oppose fun and bearable life.

Hopefully it's only a matter of time before Bachman pulls out.

Perry's done and so is she. Huntsman needs some kind of showing in New Hampshire (3rd or better?) or he's done too. Santorum isn't going anywhere, he's just the very last evangelical anti-Romney protest vote recipient. If the caucus had taken place a week or two later there'd have been time for the other candidates and the media to annihilate him too. It'll be interesting to see if Gingrich can hold on to his South Carolina lead, because I still think he's the real 3rd man in a Romney-Paul-Not Romney contest.

Of course, winning the Iowa/NH double usually means a swift coronation and Romney is on his way to achieving that, so maybe this will all wrap up very quickly.

While not as bad as some of the Republicans, I still remember him singing the “bomb bomb bomb Iran” song in 2008.
