A Conservative MP born in Iraq has been told he won't be able to enter the US. :fp:

How quickly can a President actually be impeached?

Who would impeach him though? The Republicans control everything. And those like Paul Ryan, who spoke out about this kind of thing last year, are now publicly backing it. They won't do anything until Trump's core base begins to revolt.

A mosque by the looks of it has been torched in Texas:

NBC News wrote:An early-morning fire has destroyed a Texas mosque that had been a target of hatred in the past.

The Victoria Advocate reports that a convenience store clerk spotted smoke and flames billowing from the Islamic Center of Victoria at around 2 a.m. Saturday and called the fire department.

Jeff Cowan, battalion chief for the city's fire department, says firefighters and police officers found the mosque completely consumed in flames when they arrived.

The blaze was extinguished about four hours later. No injuries have been reported.

Victoria Fire Marshal Tom Legler has asked for help from state and federal fire investigators to determine what caused the blaze.

The Islamic center's president, Shahid Hashmi, wouldn't speculate about whether it was arson, but he says the building was burglarized a week ago. The paper reports that in July 2013, a man admitted to painting "H8," a computer shorthand for "hate," on the outside of the building.

Surely they must have at least one patriotic bone in their bodies? There has to be a point at which they decide to do what they have to protect the country.

I thought the ban was on travel from the Seven countries, is it anyone who holds a passport for these countries then or anyone who was born there? Or a combination of all of them?

Anyone born in those countries, no matter what passport they hold.

Nothing to do with travel - basically anyone of that nationality, or dual nationality, traveling from anywhere - even those that already hold visas/green cards and have for years.

It's a terrible, ill-thought out policy for sure. You can't use the 9/11 excuse because those countries are, astoundingly, exempt. The way they're treating their own citizens will only breed delusion and resentment.

BBC Neww wrote:Theresa May does "not agree" with Donald Trump's refugee ban and will appeal to the US if it affects British citizens, Downing Street has said.

The prime minister was criticised for refusing to condemn President Trump's executive order on Saturday.

It halted all refugee admissions and has temporarily barred people from seven Muslim-majority countries.

At an earlier news conference in Turkey, Mrs May said it was up to the US to decide its own policy.

Mr Trump has also banned Syrian refugees indefinitely and suspended visas for people from six other countries.
'Weak failure'

The PM's refusal to openly challenge the ban had prompted criticism from politicians, including Conservative MPs.

Heidi Allen, Conservative MP for South Cambridgeshire, said on Twitter: "Strong leadership means not being afraid to tell someone powerful when they're wrong."

Labour's Jeremy Corbyn said Mrs May showed "weak failure" in standing up for British values.

"President Trump's executive order against refugees and Muslims should shock and appal us all," he added.

A holidaymaker vet from Glasgow says she is "upset" and "afraid" after being refused boarding for her flight home to Scotland.

Hamaseh Tayari, who holds an Iranian passport, was due to fly from Costa Rica to New York, and then from New York to Glasgow, but was stopped due to the ban.

She said staff at San Jose airport in Coast Rica were sympathetic but that "it's a crazy thing that I really didn't expect to happen to me."

Another Conservative MP, Nadhim Zahawi, who is of Iraqi origin, said a US immigration lawyer had told him he would be affected by the ban.

"A sad sad day to feel like a second-class citizen," he said. "Sad day for the USA."

Conservative peer Baroness Warsi wrote on Twitter: "The moment we once again lost a little more moral authority. The hypocrisy of the debate on #Britishvalues becomes more stark by the day."

At a news conference in Ankara with Turkish Prime Minister Benali Yildirim on Saturday, Mrs May said the US was responsible for its own refugee policy.

She added: "The United Kingdom is responsible for the United Kingdom's policy on refugees.

"[This] is to have a number of voluntary schemes to bring Syrian refugees into the country, particularly those who are most vulnerable, but also to provide significant financial contributions to support refugees in countries surrounding Syria."

Donald Trump doesn't agree with Piers Morgan on Gun Control or Mad Dog on torture, so there's hope he won't go on a rampage.

This source is blatantly Farage!

I'll be amazed if this whole thing goes swimmingly. How are they going to get Trump from the airport to Buckingham Palace, or anywhere in London, without him passing what I'm sure will be the biggest protests since the poll tax. Only option is to have a helicopter land him in the garden.

The federal court for the Eastern District of New York issued an emergency stay halting President Donald Trump’s executive order banning entry to the US from seven majority-Muslim countries tonight, following widespread protests at airports around the country.

The court ruled on a habeas corpus petition filed by the ACLU on behalf of Hameed Khalid Darweesh and Sameer Abdulkhaleq Alshawi, who were denied entry to the US upon landing at JFK airport in New York City and detained indefinitely by Customs and Border Patrol. Darweesh spent a decade working for the United States military in Iraq as an interpreter and engineer and had been granted an entry visa after background checks; Alshawi had been granted a visa in order to join his wife and son who are already permanent residents of the US after their similar service with the US military.

Trump’s executive order halts all immigration from Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, and Syria. The ban was issued late on Friday, leading to widespread confusion about how it would be implemented and enforced, chaos as those decisions were made quickly and without a great deal of transparency, and controversy as the essential legality of a ban that effectively targets Muslims was called into question.

Protests have erupted at airports around the country in response to the ban, and the tech industry has signaled significant opposition to it in tones ranging from measured to morally outraged.

The court’s stay is temporary; it’s clear that the White House will argue to have it reinstated as soon as possible.

JUST IN: Ex-KGB Spy Linked To Trump’s Russia Dossier Found Dead (DETAILS)

A former KGB general allegedly linked to a former MI6 spy’s dossier on Donald Trump has been found dead in his car in Moscow. General Oleg Erovinkin continued with the KGB as it mutated into the FSB. Yet, the Kremlin may well have ordered his murder and covered it up, according to MSN News.

Former MI6 spy, London-based Christopher Steele authored a dossier of raw data allegedly connecting Donald Trump to the Russian government on July 19, 2016. When reporters uncovered the former spy’s identity, he went to ground and has not been seen since.

Erovinkn was the top aide to former deputy prime minister and head of the state-owned oil company Igor Sechin. As such, he was a primary liaison between Sechin and Putin. The dead man’s name appeared to be linked to the dossier on Trump.

The report stated Erovinkin had a source close to Sechin, and that source had revealed alleged links between Moscow and Trump supporters. MSN reported that a Russian state news agency RIA Novosti reported that Erovinkin’s body had been:

‘Found in a black Lexus…[and] a large-scale investigation has been commenced in the area. Erovinkin’s body was sent to the FSB morgue.’

The FSB investigated the death and claimed Erovinkin died of a heart attack. Expert in Russian-related security threats Christo Grozev believes Erovinkin was Steele’s key source. Both private and public sources say Erovinkin was Sechin’s closest colleague. MSN reported that Grozev wrote on a blog:

‘Insiders have described Erovinkin to me alternately as “Sechin’s treasurer” and “the go-between between Putin and Sechin”…One thing that everyone seems to agree – both in public and private sources – is that Erovinkin was Sechin’s closest associate.

Grozev is a member of Bulgarian think tank Risk Management Lab. He said:

‘I have no doubt that at the time Erovinkin died, Mr Putin had Mr Steele’s Trump dossier on his desk. He would – arguably – have known whether the alleged… story is based on fact or fiction.

‘Whichever is true, he would have had a motive to seek – and find the mole… He would have had to conclude that Erovinkin was at least a person of interest.’

However, some experts are skeptical about Grosnev’s theory. Expert on Russian security services Mark Galeotti said:

‘As a rule, people like Gen Yerovinkin don’t tend to die in airport thriller murders.’

Trump’s good buddy, Vladimir Putin, was a lieutenant colonel in the KGB before he became the head of the FSB, then president of Russia.

Erovinkin is not the only person linked to Putin’s government who died violently or under mysterious circumstances, according to The Business Insider. This is not the first time the FSB has disappeared people. These include outspoken pro-democracy Kremlin critic Duma Deputy Galina Starovoitova, killed in St. Petersburg.

The former Russian press minister and founder of Russia Today television [RT] Mikhail Lesin died in his Washington, D.C. hotel room in 2015. He was reportedly working with the FBI.

Former KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko died three weeks after drinking a cup of tea laced with toxic polonium-210 at a London hotel. A British investigation discovered two FSB agents “probably approved by Mr Patrushev and also by President Putin” killed the man. Litvnenko accused Putin of ordering journalist Anna Politkovskaya’s death.

Politkovskaya also wrote a book Putin’s Russia, which accused Putin of transforming Russia into a police state, according to Business Insider. Contract killers shot her in the elevator to her apartment. “A person unknown” paid $150,000 for the contract killing.

Another journalist who occasionally worked with Politkovskaya, Natalia Estemirova investigated human rights abuses in Chechnya. The killer(s) kidnapped her from outside her home and shot her in the head.

Human-rights attorney Stanislav Markelov worked for Politkovskaya and other journalists who criticized Putin. A masked gunman shot him near the Kremlin. He had been walking with journalist Anastasia Baburova, and she was also shot. Both died.

Former deputy prime minister of Russian president Boris Yeltsin, Boris Nemtsov, accused Putin of taking money from oligarchs [rich business leaders with political influence.] Murderer(s) shot him four times in the back near the Kremlin.

Russian oligarch exiled to Britain Boris Berezovsky threatened Putin. After British police investigated several alleged assassination attempts on him, they found him dead of an “apparent suicide,” but the verdict is officially still open.

Chief editor of the Russia’s edition of Forbes magazine Paul Klebnikov wrote about “corruption and dug into the lives of wealthy Russians,” according to Business Insider. Contract killers shot him in a drive-by shooting.

Russian politician Sergei Yushenkov tried to link the Russian government to an apartment block bombing, the Business Insider wrote:

‘He was killed in an assassination by a single shot to the chest just hours after his political organisation, Liberal Russia, had been recognised by the Justice Ministry as a party.’

The question becomes: Why would Donald Trump admire Vladimir Putin?

Curiouser and curiouser. Will we soon find Mr. Steele floating in a river somewhere?

The seven predominantly Muslim countries which Trump has banned have something in common, compared to say other predominantly Muslim countries (e.g. UAE or Turkey). Trump does not appear to have any business interests there.
