At Food and Drug Administration, TVs now turned to Fox News and can't be switched:

Can't be having employees watching any of that CNN rubbish.

There is an insidious vein of capitalism, currently dominant today, that believes the market is the ultimate wisdom. It revolves around the completely unfounded belief that injecting competition into anything will make it better (rather than mutualism and cooperation) and public is always worse than private. The market is the supreme arbiter of worth in their eyes. Fortunately, only in America has it become crazy enough and the 'market' worshipped with such religious fervour that people accept it dictating whether people live or die. You don't have to be a socialist to see that this is a crazy and extreme ideology.

Born with a lifelong condition? Sorry, the market says you are not profitable enough to deserve proper medical care. On the bright side, you will die free. Better than living a long and healthy life under the evil thumb of universal healthcare right?

Bill Maher may be a dickhead but there are no lies detected here. Great rant.

He's a banana split of the highest order, but you're right, that video is excellent.

Funny how it's liberals that are gay loving snowflakes that hate free speech until Colbert does an anti-Trump joke.

They really can't handle criticism at all.

It's because he's the president of the great United States of America and making fun of him means the terrorists win, while Obama wasn't born in the USA and therefore wasn't the president so it was ok to say stuff about him. Check mate libtards.

When did Bill Maher become a baddie?

Since people can only see black and white in people these days. They're either an angel or a banana split.

Bill makes plenty of good points, it's religion he detests, mainly his views on Muslim culture.

It's not only seeing black or white in people (nice generalisation of your own there btw ;) ), Maher can make good points sometimes and can be funny. Overall though he comes across as a smug, self righteous arse.

Edit: this is a pretty decent article on why Maher is a bit of a nob: http://www.cracked.com/blog/lets-shine- ... ill-maher/

Or hyperbole like "Since people can only see black and white in people these days".

Me calling somebody a banana split of the highest order can mean anything from Hitler to my best mate. Maher is a long way from the Hitler side of that scale, but he's not somebody I particularly like very much.

Doesn't that make it a kind of pointless thing to say then? Seems like it's a catch-all title :?

As for Maher, I like him. He obviously goes in hard on the right which is to be expected (and welcomed) but he's also not afraid to call out the left when they're being dicks. He's not a liberal echo chamber and that's often reflected in his panel of guests.

He had that Toni Lahren on recently too, hot dang :datass:

Well it's all about context isn't it?

Hitler was a banana split of the highest order because he murdered millions.

My best mate is a banana split of the highest order because he slumped on buying a round of drinks.

Maher is a banana split of the highest order because he has worrying views on sex with minors and trans people.

"banana split of the highest order" suggests they have done something wrong or irritating, the words that follow that statement then explain why I think so.

The problem with Bill Maher is that he's pretty closed minded and prone to prejudice. The guy said that all Arab men make bad boyfriends. He's made a load of just ridiculous statements about Islam, which he walks back a bit when challenged.

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.

I just prefer Colbert because he's just way funnier and doesn't seem like the sort who would lecture me for 3 hours if I ever met him.
I also find Maher quite rude and condescending which I just don't find appealing.

I think Trevor Noah is doing an amazing job though and I watch The Daily Show every day  .
It's pretty much the main reason (along with Last Week Tonight) I keep Now TV.

Trevor Noah has been on fire this year. Really upped his game after a slow first year. I love the between the ad-break segments they put up on the YouTube channel.
