So it might have been better when he didn't call the families of dead service men:

Imagine dealing with the loss of a spouse/child/parent/sibling and then also having to deal with a phone call from Trump.

I’d much rather he just ignored me.

They lost a child, but at least they have the memories of talking to a real, true-to-life celebrity; host of The Apprentice, WWE Hall of Famer, actor, billionaire...President.

gooseberry fool, I thought it was horrible that he didn't call at all, but that's just rubbing salt into the wound - victim blaming, almost. "She asked for it" in a military context. :fp: What an objectively terrible excuse for a person.

His supporters will continue to defend him and say anyone thinking this is was a bad choice of words is a snowflake despite Trump himself being the least able to handle criticism of any leader in a free country.

No, actually almost half of them won't even believe he did/said that:

Nearly half of voters, 46 percent, believe the news media fabricate news stories about President Donald Trump and his administration, according to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll.

Just 37 percent of voters think the media do not fabricate stories, the poll shows, while the remaining 17 percent are undecided.

More than three-quarters of Republican voters, 76 percent, think the news media invent stories about Trump and his administration, compared with only 11 percent who don’t think so. Among Democrats, one-in-five think the media make up stories, but a 65 percent majority think they do not. Forty-four percent of independent voters think the media make up stories about Trump, and 31 percent think they do not.

What the strawberry float are you actually supposed to do against that? It's complete indoctrination.

Germany is apparently teaching its children and adults how to identify fake news, and I hear it's working well so far, so I'm guessing that it's not an insurmountable problem. Of course, the US probably won't adopt those lessons until the next Democratic administration.

There's that as well.
The distrust of the media in the US is not really all that surprising when you see the news TV stations they have. Fox news is about as much of a news service as Dave is. They have opinion pieces on 90% of the time and somehow claim that's news and they get angry that other broadcasters aren't focusing on exactly what they are and claim that's news in itself.
US TV news is a disgrace and it's no wonder a US version of that style of so called news is not allowed here.
Yes, it may be dry and have less viewers but a news channel is supposed to be the bloody news from around the world and at home not gooseberry fool like the O'Reilly factor and his laughably titled No spin zone that is 100% his spin on things.

All that would do is give conservatives the excuse they need to go on an all out assault on liberals.

Good point Peter. We'd have to cast the net pretty wide to get everyone needed.

It would be easier if we all just bugger off to Mars and leave the conservatives to strawberry float things up just to watch them blame each other for not being conservative enough.

Glad he's doubling down on this. This is about to become another crisis entirely of his own making.

It's not that much of a wound though. Because the vast majority (if not all :P) of his supporters are strawberry floating morons?

It'll be a "fact" in their head now that no President ever calls families, Trump made the perfect call, that (black woman) lied about this call and Trump is being attacked needlessly be FAKE NEWS angry at all his winning.

He publically shamed McCain and anyone that got captured. He engaged in a highly public spat with a Gold Star family. It didn't affect his supports despite their 'Muricah! chants and proclamations...Football players protesting racial injustice though? God damn disrespecting our troops!

Despite their rhetoric and veneer of patriotism his followers dress themselves in - they don't care about "the troops". Just the advance of their hate filled agenda

All this is doing is giving his critics more exhasperation. It won't affect his core supporters in anyway, and the GOP is too craven to move against him

You lot are in a world of pain when he unleashes the "proof" on you. 8-)

Seriously though, £20 says he will say he can't release the proof because it was a private conversation with a widow.
