I would be absolutely fascinated to know what the founding fathers would make of the direction the US has gone. To me it feels like the whole of Europe has progressed into a far freer and more mature culture than the US, in part because the constitution is now seen in a religious light, holding the country back.

It's incredible the difference between the US and the rest of "western civilisation".

The odd thing is conservatives honestly feel they are the real and only guardians of America and American values.
They think liberals are all traitors and mentally ill and want to destroy America. It's honestly interesting to watch them try and argue that they know exactly what the founders wanted despite them being dead for centuries and how only they have the solutions to today's problems.

They are seemingly unable to work out how democracy works (a lot of them don't even think the US is a democracy they say it's a republic) and that because they aren't in power at all times somehow that proves the US is broken and needs fixing with many almost hoping for a civil war.

Donny's busy spouting on Twitter again. Doesn't he have anything else to do?

Does he really want to bring the sanctions conversation back front and centre? :fp:

35th Republican Party retirement this election cycle, apparently this is an unusually large number.

There's a new guilty plea coming from Mueller's investigation. Not sure who this person is or why there is such a weirdly specific guilty plea, but I guess it may be something to do with Gates or perhaps it's putting pressure on person A, whoever that is.

Ooohh, should have looked harder. This might be very interesting. Alex Van Der Zwaan is the son-in-law of a Russian Oligarch. People are thinking that if person A was Manafort, he would be named. So Person A and family looks a lot like somebody else!

UPDATE: Some are wondering it could be Manafort and one of his daughters, to put more pressure on. Also the father-in-law runs Alfa bank which appeared in an earlier story about funny pings between the Trump campaign and this Russian Bank.

Anyone listened to the podcast Slow Burn, on how the Watergate scandal unfolded over the course of two years? It's an eye-opener when comparing it to Trump's collision with Russia, both in how bizarre it feels to not see obviously guilty people get taken down immediately, and how blindly supportive the Republican base can be in the face of serious scandal.

The woman who claims Trump assaulted her directly asks him to release the tape of the day in question!

I doubt footage that old would be kept hold of anyway but it's clear to see Trump assumes he can bully people around without response.

Bit of an unfortunate name, Crooks. :slol:

Trump probably had the tapes scrubbed long ago, or they got deleted in the natural course of events, or the cameras weren't really running at all.

I was listening to the Anderson Cooper Podcast this morning on the way in (its just the audio of the show) and it was quite the listen. One segment they went to a trump face book campaigner and informed her that she factually had been sharing content from a group called "Being a Patriot" which the FBI had now sourced was coming from St Petersburg. She was either so stupid to comprehend this or mental. She went off ranting about it was Bullsh*t, that none of the rallies that "Being a Patriot" organised had any russians and then went off on Hillary and her 'bandits' are the real story to do with Russia.

The next segment was even more depressing. One of the high school kids in that school shooting who survived has been labelled an actor buy various right wing organisations, also Donald Trump Jnr 'liked' tweets saying these things. They had the actual kid on himself to provide evidence... WTF?

As an aside, several people on my wifes Facebook keep touting Uranium One stuff, I don't like using the word but I literally think people who believe that are partially retarded, or at least socially so.

I forget who originally said it, but it is easier to fool people than it is to convince them that they have been fooled.

People don’t like to admit when they are wrong and will just double down on the bullshit rather than accept that they were tricked.

I remember hating George W Bush but good god I'd have him back in a heartbeat.

I hope Joe Biden goes for election next, he's like a Trump antidote. I love the guy.
