Once you get used to the rhythm (missus) that attack, which I call the Eddie Honda Special, is actually very helpful as it means you can pick off a good five or six tumours very quickly. By far the cheapest attack, though, is when he roars, because you can't stop Jill from reeling from it and it leaves her wide open for the left-right-left administer smackies attack. Don't get me wrong, it took an age for me to work out Nigel Emesis's attack pattern on Nightmare/Inferno, but now I have I can usually smoke him in a few attempts. Haven't first-timed it yet, though.

It’s not SAME parasite from RE4. It was discovered by Wesker after the fall of Umbrella and retained the services of Ada to get a sample.

That's most unfortunate. I'm still clinging on to my dream though, as it's within the realms of possibility that they've used samples of Las Plagas to create the Nemesis parasite. :shifty:

Your pinch of salt may vary, but from what I can see, various files and other hints seem to point toward

a remake of Code Veronica.

Among other things, the main evidence supporting this is that Nicholai is no longer an Umbrella agent at all, but instead a double-agent for an organisation that is actively working against Umbrella, albeit with shady tactics including advocating Nicholai's spying and murdering of others. Other than a whole new organisation, the most likely company is HCF, the paramilitary group Wesker leads during the events of Code Veronica. There was also a file in Resident Evil 7 that stated tha tthe HCF had direct involvement in that game's plot, which also adds credence.

I for one really hope iit does go into Code Veronica for three reasons: first, CV is ace. Second, I'm a huge Wesker fan, he's a wonderfully magnifient backstabbing bastard. Third, I hated what they did with him in RE5 and his legacy in 6, it was all totally against his character and the weird origin was poor and not necessary. I'd love to see proper evil-special-forces, super-cats-eyes Albert again just being a proper dick to everyone, good and evil alike.

Anyway, yes. Resident Evil 3. What a game. I loved RE:2, but as there wasn't much in the way of new game plus, I haven't really been back. RE:3 totally fixes that. Peoples' main criticism is that it's short. Is it? Absolutely. My fastest run through is 0:58:08. However, what's key to remember is that that wasn't my first playthrough. That one was much longer (missus). Here's the thing: When you first play RE:3, it's a survival horror much in the vein of RE:2. However, once the credits have rolled, it stops being a survival horror and becomes Resident Evil: Arcade, where speed runs, self-imposed challenges and collecting achievements are the order of the day. It requires and is ripe for multiple, multiple playthroughs, and that's where the true length of the game is.

Is it short? On paper, absolutely. In practice, I've - stuck in the house as I am - reached 100% completion a while back, and am still playing it well past the fifty hour mark both to beat my own clear times and out of sheer enjoyment. Game of the Year so far for me by a country mile.

Not Code Veronica unfortunately..

I'd love a CV remake but they'd need to change the twist in the story completely. I played the game not long ago and it's uncomfortably insensitive.

I'd prefer Code Veronica first... or Outbreak, since I missed out on that the first time round and they've already got the Raccoon City assets sorted. :)

FFS. I can hope it’s a total remake. RE4 is too linear.

More puzzles. More routes. Better AI for RE4 enemies as the new method would roll all over them.

If the last two remakes are anything to go by, you'll get less instead of more of anything.

I have gone on record as saying that Resident Evil 4 is the best video game ever made, so this will be interesting.

Indeed, I'd rank it in my all time top ten(just behind RE2, funnily enough) so I'll be very interested to see what they do here.

And done, at a very leisurely 8 hours. That last section certainly ramps up the difficulty, died twice as much there as anywhere else in the game. 100% hardcore next before the speed runs start :datass: There’s loads I missed so next run should be another 5+ hours easy.

Will leave final thoughts for not stupid o clock in the morning but essentially agree with everyone in here. It’s a banger and excels in places RE2 doesn’t but that is the superior game. My main gripe is with the zombies but that’s a factor of the game design.

I’ve played RE2 so many times, that despite wondering what the jewel thing in the subway was for and picking up the fancy box I never inspected it because I just assumed I was looking for some key or gem to open it

May have spoken too early about this being easy. Hardcore mode is no strawberry floating joke. Clearing out the first few areas and without scumming it I’m limping from save station to save station. The first rush back to the Subway took me about a dozen tries because I was basically one breath away from death and had to dodge, Nemesis, zombies and the parasite head things.

It certainly has it’s hooks in me. Intended just to get back to the subway, which morphed into I’ll just get to the first Sewer save station, which became I’ll just blast through the sewers, turning to getting to the next save spot before eventually just doing the first Nemesis boss fight and then getting all the way to Kendo

Have they said anything about DLC for this? I think it needs it because despite the replayability I don’t think it’ll take to long before I can blast through in under an hour.

strawberry float off Nemesis stage 3 is a banana split on hardcore

Edit: Holy gooseberry fool, I wanted harder but that was strawberry floating nuts. Managed to get phase 4 down in a couple of goes and boy was it satisfying sticking that strawberry floating blaster down his throat and vaporising him. What a bloody war.

In fairness, looking back I'm fairly sure the demos difficulty was set to Hardcore.

I thought you chose it or am I imagining that? It put me off buying it if that’s why it was so hard I might get it on an easier difficulty

Starting Nightmare difficulty now :dread:

Still missing a few notes, a gun upgrade and a couple of Charlie Dolls. Thought I was pretty conclusive in clearing everything last time through so not sure what I’m missing.

There’s a Charlie doll in a waste paper bin somewhere, absolute pain in the arse to find. :dread:

I’m missing 1 Kendo gun upgrade and 1 note and do I strawberry float know what they are or even where they are.

Tip for dodging a bit easier, do it while aiming and it seems to be so much easier especially against Nemesis.

The one note you're missing is probably near the top of the ladder after the final boss.
